goslow it is indeed a freshwater bottom dwelling fish known as a common carp.here in uk it was not generally classed as food but many european countries eat it all the time and class it as excellent to eat.i fully agree on the muddy taste comment never eaten freshwater native fish myself but have come across many who have tried them and gave the exact same comment.think i will just stick to catch and release and go to the chippy for my fish and of course chips.
