Hi I left my 4.0 disk on my car and Adobe doesn't have 4.0 anywhere. Does anyone know where to download 4.0? Thanks

Click here (http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=acrobat) to go to the page that you can download Adobe Acrobat reader. Click on Acrobat Reader 4. Does this help you enough?

Fixed link. ABlix.

It looks like there is another version of Acrobat Reader out, version 6, which is 45 MB.

This seems a bit large for a text reader.

Anyone got Version 5 that they can make available for others?

Also, http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=acrobat needs to be updated when we get a new version.

Thanks

where did you see it listed at being 45megs??
i just looked on Adobe.com and for version 6.0 it is 15megs.
Download file size: 15.3 MB
Download file: Adobe Reader 6.0

which is still big for a pdf reader, if you look else where on the board i posted links for alternative pdf readers, such as ghostscript, ghostview.

I do have ver 5 somewhere. and other versions also.
as to when the site will be updated... your guess is as good as mine.

you can probably select a custom install and not install all available options, such as the web browser plugins, and others, that should trim some of the filesize down.

Please read the pinned topic How to Request an App (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=1585) if your not certain on how to make a request, then add the necessary info back into this thread.

Why do you only have freeware and shareware?
This is not a "warez" site. We are able to legally distribute only freeware and shareware, since they are free.

Are you looking for the Acrobat Reader or Acrobat; the pdf creation title? The reader is free, the creator title is not.

the following link http://www.5star-shareware.com/Utilities/P...ns/acrobat.html (http://www.5star-shareware.com/Utilities/Plugins/acrobat.html) lists version 5 as (licence free) if you would sooner have it on cd you could check out www.ebay.com

Sorry for the mis-understanding, but my license is for the full version which is used to create PDF files, not just the reader.....brian

Loosing the CD is tough, your'e for the most part only going to find demo's online. Your probably going to have to buy the CD again. You can check here for cheaper costing software, its not dirt cheap mind you.

If you know of any local computer shows in your area, you might want to hit them, and see if they have any deals on the title your seeking.

Otherwise you can lok in previous threads for similar products to Acrobat, some are even freeware.

I suppose the analogy would be going to your local bookstore and asking for another copy of War and Peace because you left it on a bus, even though you still had the receipt for the book.

This is sort of on topic inasmuch as you can back up your licenced adobe application to a media disc so if you loose the original disc through theft or by whatever means you can re-install using your licence key. Or you could have made a photocopy of War and Peace.
Not so If you purchase a DVD movie and you want to back it up. The US courts have ruled against 321 studios DVD X Copy because it contains a de-encrypting system for copying DVD movies. It would seem that it is possible to copy a legally purchased version Adobe Acrobat 5 to a CD-R disc, also to photocopy a book bought from amazon.com, but not if you buy a DVD movie which could be lost, stolen, damaged etc.

I am using v5.0.1 at the present time. Is there a more updated free version being offered? The program I currently have installed is trouble free, and very easy to work with. Just curious if there is a newer version that is available. Not looking for something that is still being tested. Thanks for any information in this regard.

I'm sure version 5.0 is OK because I'm using it, but As far as I know any version of Adobe Reader is compatible with Windows 98.

Apparently the last Adobe Reader compatible Win98 version is/was 5.1. The last Win98SE version was 6.04. I get this info from:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/acrrsystemreqs.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Reader#Acrobat_product_history

Note: You can't download either of these versions direct from Adobe anymore. I even called up Adobe direct and Adobe themselves couldn't find copies of the file. When you try to download these older versions it tells you are going to download what you want, but instead it gives you the Adobe Download Manager, which doesn't work properly and can totally screw everything up. http://www.computergripes.com/AdobeAcrobatReader.html

I came to oldversion.com looking for both 5.1 & 6.04... too bad they don't have them so I would like to request them. I have 4.05 (oldversion doesn't) and I can contribute it.

Program Name: Adobe Reader (Adobe Acrobat)
Website: adobe.com
Current version: 7.05
Desired versions: 5.1 & 6.04
Description: http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=acrobat

BTW: oldversion.com has v5.05. HOWEVER there appears to be multiple versions of that file. oldversion gives acrobat505.exe (8770 kb) but the official download (http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobatreader/win/5.x/rp505enu.exe) gives a file that is 10188 kb.

I've decided I hate Adobe.

Check out foxit reader-

That is an excellent alternative I've suggested to many others as well. Plus it is freeware for the basic reader.

...I have the same problem and the replies for that post are no longer working?...Still look like they are working okay to me,try right clicking the link and save (target) as ...

links dont always run 24/7,sometimes it pays to try again later.

also when you find broken links post so in that thread dont create another it just gives the Mod's more work to move it, just like they would of had to do for this one.
