 does anyone know where I can get the downloadable demo of Roxio/Adaptec Easy CD creator version 4? I have version 5 platinum but for some reason, I can't get it to work right on my computer. It USED to work, but now other programs (that I need a touch more then I need burner program so can't be uninstalled) are conflicting with it. Someone with pretty similar programs said they have version 4 and it works great, but it came preinstalled on their comp and I can't seem to find a demo to try out! HELP!!!
TIA

I am currently looking for this app. Seems to be hidden well.
If you are just looking for something to burn your CD's with, you can try nero, i just posted some links for Nero551000 here,
http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?a...t=ST&f=5&t=1557 (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=5&t=1557)

Also found Easy Audio CD Burner v2.5, you might want to try it out also.

Why do you only have freeware and shareware?
This is not a "warez" site. We are able to legally distribute only freeware and shareware, since they are free.[/quote]
Is this a shareware version? if not, please do not offer to supply full versions of retail programs, as that is illegal, and not acceptable on this forum/site. Unless you are relinquishing your license with the copy to the other person, if that is permissible under the EUA of the application.

err got the download, but it seems to be faulty, i downloaded it but when installed the boxes where it says what buttons are for what are all blank and i also noticed that whilst installing it it seemed as if the wording was jumbled up any ideas ?

locustfurnace

Most likely then that the installer is in a different language that you dont have support for. Probably Chinese language.
sometimes just the installer is in another language but the program works fine, but you have a 50/50 chance.

Does any one have old easy cd creator and direct CD. Need it to access and modify my old Cd RWs created by the same program.

locustfurnace
01-01-2004, 06:08 PM
Was there a special format this program used? Any cd creating software should be able to re write and modify your CD-Rws, if you used packet writing, you can probably use NTI to make changes to it. That program is already been asked for an there are links in the past posting for NTI.
There was recently a request for the CD Pro 95, but the results did not fair too well.

Did you not see 5 posts down, this was just requested?
Did you search the forum for this title, which was asked for before.
Did you read and format your question properly, to the piined topic, which will benefit you.
If you are requesting a version, then read the pinned topic, and edit this post accordingly.

You may wish to also check for alternatives to EZCD, There are even a few free titles you can use, as EZCD would be shareware.

roxio which was formerly adaptec did not do trial versions after the start of easy cd creator 5 they only did a basic version of the software which was shipped with new cd burners and could be upgraded by going online, there was a time that you could download the trial version but i believe it stopped over a year ago, if it older versions than easy cd creator 5 they would be adaptec products and not roxio, your best bet would be to search ebay.com and purchase a copy

The title of the program explains it al. Its built to burn, rip, create, play, manage playlists and much more. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys did. Got any questions email me at mixmasterdee2000@hotmail.com...thnx

adaptec easy cd creator was giving away copies of its software with cd burners,
I should know, I received a few copies, back when I bought my 8X cd burner.
If a company is GIVING it away, that basically means, its worthless, and is the same,
as trial version or freeware. I have a copy floating around that I am willing to donate.
I definately wish you guys would put it on this sight. Old versions of software no longer,
have a value when they reach a certain point. 5yr old versions of Mcafee, sit in used book stores,
waiting to be sold, but the dust keeps collecting. I would definately not be afraid to put old copies
of adaptec easy cd creator, and would never put versions of Roxio easy cd creator, and there is a major difference btw.
Nero really sux ass, it has a trial on the mp3 encoding plugin, only lasts 30 days, easy cd creator does not, but
There was one flaw with EZcdCreator, I know it wont work on XP, im gonna try it on 2K, but it was designed, for Win98
another thing. Any peice of software designed for WIN98, nobody will gripe about it, if you put it on this site. Nobody really cares
its OLD. plz

Thats a nice thought, but.. The software is copyrighted, whether it is 10 days old, or 10 years it is someones property, copyrighted and IP (Intellectual Property).
The software they are 'giving away' is not worthless, it is software paid for when you purchased the burner, its called OEM (Original Equpiment Manufactuer) bundles. Since a cd recorder is worthles without software, the hardware companys buy a bulk license for thousands of copies of the software, which is incredibly cheap this way, then they package it as included software with the recorders. Your still bound by the copyright, EULA (End User License Agreement) you clicked "I Agree" to when you installed the software. Which usually means you can not give the software away without including the license, or that no copies be made, etc.etc. It amounts to protecting the copyright.

It is neither Freeware, Shareware, but retail, and can not be hosted for downloading.

Old versions of software no longer, have a value when they reach a certain point. Not true completely. DOS is much older than 5 years, but is still very capable of very powerful things. It's just that the user base has shrunk, or been taken over with MS Windows.

Nero really sux ass, it has a trial on the mp3 encoding plugin, only lasts 30 days, Nero should be viewed as a CD Recording software, not based on its mp3 encoding. Since LAME, is probably the only mp3 encoder worth anything these days and it's FREE.

Yes they will and they do.
Even if it looks to be useless software. it still belongs to a company who decides if the software should be passed around or not. And most will say not. if someone wants it, to them that means money.

wel i installed an old version of easy cd creator like version 5.1.02 and it doesn't have support for my sony crx230a-U (brand new cr-wr) drive because when the software was released 52x burners didn't exist, it came with b's gold , and i hate it i just want 2 run easy cd creator or nero with my ner drive , i discovered that i could upgrade 2 the 5.3... verson and it would support my new drive only problem is that when i downloaded the update it came in a format that i never even heard of b4 .....i downloaded the upgrade and another file that integrates new drive support
the files r driveup5.3.5s[1]..5s[1] and ecdc_v5.3.5.10_plt_enu[1]..10_plt_enu[1]
so anyway how in the heck do i upgrade with out an executable file ?
already tryed opening the files with roxio and doesn't work
any quick help would b verry appriciated as i am loosing my dsl in a few days and want 2 figure this out b4 then

you say a file format youve never heard of. is it a zip file or a .rar file we are not mind readers tell us wot file format it is and we may be able to help if you have downloaded them as an up date it should be executable but you may have to extract the files if they are zipped, try right clicking the files and see from the properties what type of files they are

Whats the 3 letter extension to the file? That is a rather long filename from a company, They usually are rather short filenames, Most companys still keep to the 8.3 format. Which means 8 letters a DOT then extension, ie. Roxio123.exe, though not all do, but the filename you gave, thats just does not seem right.

There are freeware alternatives out that do work, and work good. Try them, you might find they work with your drive, and will save you money.

ok the updates i downloaded were suposed 2 update it 2 version 5.3.... and according 2 what i found on their site i had support 4 the drive because the update 4 the last version 5 is updated occasionally 2 make the software accept the new drive , acually i edited the updates file names and added a .exe to the end of the file names and they accutually opend but then i got a message saying the update was only 4 the platnum version . i can't imagine y they weren't executable when i got them and they weren't ziped files.
eventually i gave up and got a copy of roxio version 6 and it works fine.

the original files i downloaded were driveup5.3.5s[1] as in .5s[1] file extention
and ecdc_v5.3.5.10_plt_enu[1].10_plt_enu[1] as in 10_plt_enu[1] file extention
adding a .exe 2 the end of the file names made them open
odd huh?

I had to search like a madman on google to get this link. They make you jump through hoops to actually download the update. What I'm trying to do is update my standalone soundstream application so I can record a full 80 minute cd. I've been burning 650MB discs with no problems whatsoever for 5 years, I recently bought new 700MB discs, and they are recognized. My Yamaha cd burner also has an update that I have to check and uncheck the DMA box in properties. pain in the ass to install that. Like I said, I've used this for years, I don't see a reason to change, I like the features, especially soundstream. I've read some nightmare software reviews for the newer roxio versions, especially for XP.

The update says something about cd creator version 4, mine happens to be version 3.5c (266), but my Soundstream is 1.0b, the one listed on the update. I hope this works for what I'm trying to do.

Are there any other websites that specialize in older software and updating it?

Someone please help me, the support at Roxio is impossible for the old adaptec products. I wonder why the page says U.K.?

Sounds to me like it updates your sound recorder to the same standard of support as if you had just installed Easy CD Creator 4.02e - look at the link below for what is supported in that version.

Hooray!!! :D , I got Soundstream to record my eighty minute discs with no problem. Interesting, I don't think it messed with my bundled cd creator app. Soundstream was a standalone application that I paid and have the key for, I wonder why Roxio are not supporting it. If I ever started using XP, I might consider buying from them again if they weren't such -- about supporting the old adaptec software, which I'm very very happy with. It's done me well for awhile. Soundstream is a kickass product, it wavs mp3 files, and eqs them automatically, One shot burn.

Reading the Roxio website, they recommend the cd creator 6 for only 98se, they want XP people to buy the hundred dollar version. I don't need it, I'm happy with the old version.

Thanks for the link showing the roxio page that shows support for my dependable yamaha 8424 burner. The soundstream engine upgrade was 4.02, so it looks like to get my cd creator to update, I need to get that far if I want to use that for data discs. If anyone is using 98se and using a minimum version of cd creator please comment what I need to do to get it to record 80 min. discs.

old version dot com rules, I agree with what the essential idea is, if you don't need to upgrade, don't. no matter how much it nags you to. don't reward bad customer service with any future business.

adaptec that sold off their home software should be punished also, they only do industrial software now.,

Hello,

Anyone know how I can get Adaptec Easy CD Creater v4?

I actually had the original disc that came with my Gateway computer, but can't find it.

It has Windows ME installed and can't run the newer versions.

Thanks

Would like to be able to find this one myself...I have some cd's that were left in writable mode and had a system crash, totally killed my pc, now I have a new system and nero won't read the unfinished disks. If anyone knows how I can recover the data that would be cool too, but I did like that program.

Thanks,

i run easycd creator 5 platinum on my windows me system that has only a 500mhz processor and 128 mhz ram for backing up my photos on data disc and music back ups of my cds for using in the car so i would expect your system should run it as well, i have a couple of copies of easy cd creator 4 deluxe somewhere that came shipped with various burners i bought but as adaptec was taken over by roxio there is very little in the way of support for the adaptec products although roxio do have some updates still on the website, if your drive is newer than mid 2001 chances are it wont be supported by the software but you will get a copy really cheap from www.ebay.com or www.recycledsoftware.com

there's an update to Easy-CD Pro 95 within the file ECDP95U.ZIP (308.7 kb - 07-23-97)
mentioned at
http://www.mpoli.fi/files/hardware/CDROM/OTHER/index.html#e

the file is for instance downloadable at
ftp://pc58.ibspan.waw.pl/pub/mirror/ftp.mpoli.fi/hardware/CDROM/OTHER/ECDP95U.ZIP

-> is this update an update to be applied to the version you just provided the link for -- or does the demo95.exe contain a more recent version?

Good evening,

I just happened to stumble upon this site and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction for the help I need.

I am using a Compaq Presario AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3300+, 2411MHz/960 RAM, running Windows Xp Home Sp#2, using IE7. My system is now almost two years old.

I can vaguely remember a program that came bundled with the computer called 'Easy CD Creator'. Somehow, sometime and someway I got rid of the program.

Has anyone else ever heard of it? I can't say for certain but I am pretty sure the version number was v 5.0. I have always had trouble getting the 'CD Burning' function in my WMP to work, both WMP10 and now WMP11. I think it has something to do with something that was connected to 'Easy CD Creator'.

Any help out there?

Thanks and regards,

2harts4ever

there are freeware alternatives posted in the forum that may serve your purpose if you are going to start using another program anyway.

you may also need to be clearer in what help you are seeking so that members might assist you - you maybe seeking to reinstall a lost program or remove the remnants of one that might be causing a conflict.

Roxio products do not have an enviable reputation.

if you have had easy cd creator platinum and removed it before i personally wouldnt bother,i had this app and have never had such a program that caused so many problems, mine never installed properly and then caused so many problems when i tried to reinstall, especially the 5 version,if i remember correctly the update patch etc for that version updates it and also removes another component because of problems that were found with it.if you really want it then its always on ebay.com but i would strongly advise a freeware alternative or you could use nero which is also cheap as chips on ebay.

Also note, that sometimes older recording software will not work with newer hardware. They do not contain the data which allows it to operate new hardware. When they sometimes do manage to atleast locate the hardware, then they sometimes can not burn at the speeds the drive can.
If you are successful with said program, great. If not, then the solution is to look for something else.
There are several excellent freeware titles which are current.

Hi everyone,

I appreciate all the feedback. By the sounds of it I guess it might not be worth the effort or the risk of trying to reinstall it on my WinXP machine.

Thanks and regards,

I have to disagree I know somebody and I install cd creator platinum on there xp and they can burn with no problems. I withness it has crash few times but nothing today is made perfect.

Easy CD Creator Platinum Updates It can be installed in Windows NT, 98, 2000, ME, and XP. This update will install Windows XP specific drivers and make the necessary registry entries to allow Easy CD Creator to operate correctly in Windows XP.

Easy CD Creator 5.3.5 adds drive support and several fixes. It adds support for DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW. It adds Windows XP support and disables Take Two in all Windows environments. More info on link http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/ecdc/software_updates.html

It's not to encouraging if you state you have witnessed said program crashing a few times.
If it crashes a few times when recording to a Dual-Layer, which aren't the cheapest blanks. That would be reason enough not to use the program.

nobody said that at all,the replies were pointed at the original poster, just because you had a friend that uses it and the roxio website says it is all windows and stable doesnt mean much either,i myslef was giving an opinion being somebody that had used it with different drives and systems and had bad results,as far as the drives that are shipped with roxio, sure they should work fine but remember the version shipped with such drives is the basic version for which you need an upgrade to make it the full product which is where lots of problems start.

I would never recommend anyone buy an LG drive for one. Why? Simple, they have been known to not follow standard hardware codes. Which a few years ago, results in many peoples drives being permanently disabled when installing an OS. The code was to flush the buffer, but since LG did not follow standards, the LG misused code corrupted the bios.

Besides, the comment was not directed at ROXIO. It was directed at the comment you made, concerning installing software you witnessed crashing.

I have been using K3b for many years and never once did the program crash a single time in my use of it.

My experience with Roxio is limited to their "TOAST" for OSX. I have no been impressed. Infact, I do not even burn anything on my iMac. I find it far easier to simply do an NFS mount and burn the files from my Slack box via K3b.

When Easy CD Creator was 'Adaptec Easy CD Creator,' I believe I tried it once. But found it limited by not including ROMEO file extension support. So I used NTI products. Which included ROMEO as well as several versions of the UDF. Plus it supported Packet Writing.

Besides, the reply was to someone wishing to use an older version of said product. So if you state their products are stable today, you are forgetting the OP is wishing to use an older product, possibly with latter hardware.

If you install a 5+ year old CD/DVD recording software, it will not work with a newer drive. No matter how stable a product is, thats irrelevant to the point. Simply because a product can operate a CD/DVD hardware device, does not mean it can operate all CD/DVD hardware devices or record to all media.

All hardware is not created equally.
