I was just wondering if any out there knew of any good web sites to get old games? Some times old games are just the way to go. If you know any please post the web link.

since you did not define how old, you might want to check out whatever games they have at Tucows, be sure to check out the Classic sections for Win3.x games - if it is still around.

http://www.dosgames.com

http://www.old-games.com/

Etc......

When I ran a Google search for "old games" (with the quotation marks), I got 206,000 results. I'm not going to copy them all here.

Aside from that, many of the mainstream download websites, c|net, Tucows & etc also include many old games in their inventory. If you specify an older operating system in your search, you will weed out most of the newer stuff.

please dont post links to "abandonware" sites as those software titles are still owned and copyrighted by their respected owners, and are not free or shareware titles. Most titles on abandonware sites are illegal to offer for downloading.

Well to me it was like this site as they are very strict about things like that and don't offer anything that can be purchased today. I wish that you would reconsider this and look into it further as it is a wonderfull site!!! Thanks

yes, i did read their policy, but they still offer retail programs, ROMS, and many things which are illegal. They just must, for some reason believe that Abandonware is legit, but it is not. Just simply saying this is old and no longer supported, does not give someone the right to offer it for free to download. The company still owns and retains all copyrights, if, the titles were released officially as Public Domain software, then i would say the site is OK to post. But those titles are not public domian, they are just no longer activity developed.

I remember buying a PC in the mid 90's that came loaded with the original 'Doom' I just remembered being awestruck with the 3D GFX which by today's standards is very basic.

The only computer that had windows 3.1 still on it crashed a long time ago, I know because it was mine. You can usually find old shareware games by just typing in Shareware games in a search engine. I found many good and old ones out there.

the p2p fileshare program "ARES" is great for downloading games that actually work. just type in the games you want under "software" and you might well get a result
