This version is from Aug 2000 (the connection is a little tricky, sometimes it works and sometimes not, be patient)
ftp://ftp.north-west.ru/pub/Windows/Music...Box/mmsetup.exe (ftp://ftp.north-west.ru/pub/Windows/MusicMatchJukeBox/mmsetup.exe)

and this version is from Oct 1998

I hate 8.0. The last full version I had downloaded was 6.01 (or some such). I had updated and upgraded to 7.5, then did the same thing and breezed past the message about 8.0 not accepting my previous key.

Sucks!

So, I'm looking for 7.5 to install. Hopefully my old key will work.

I wonder what version is considered best by people who uses MusicMatch Jukebox.

I had to vote for 7.0 although I have to specify 7.1.

I like the default skin in 7.5, but 7.1 is much faster on my machine.

Don't even get me started on version 8.0! I found it to be even slower than 7.5 and wouldn't accept my full retail code.

Yeah I had the same with jukebox 8.0. It's so slow, I had to kick it off again.

trying to add more posts to your overall count huh, GoSlow? ya could have edited the same post you know. users can edit their own postings. :)

i think there has been previous postings for Musicmatch, and yes, there has been, by doing a quick search i got these results numbering 16!
http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?a...lite=musicmatch (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=Search&CODE=show&searchid=7932bb1ddabaadab6dadccc7dd7dcdd5&search_in=posts&result_type=topics&highlite=musicmatch)

and there is a request for version 5, so that thread could have been added to, then would have been upped on the board, and file links could have been added to it.

It is OK to add to older threads, if the topic is the same as what your seeking. I know some forums find answering older threads from months back is a waste. But i think the subject does not get old, so just keep admending to the thread, which helps make it easier to do a search on a topic and find all the answers in 1, instead of scattered across 20 threads. this would have been great for all the MSN threads as well! Since they keep on piling up.

this program is about as fancy lookin as MusicMatch; since alot of people use MMJB for the looks. Plus it has some features MMJB does not, and it is 100% free. Good alternative to MMJB

Does anyone know if/when MusicMatch Jukebox 8.1 will be available?

I purchased their 8.1 Plus version only two months ago. But while I reformatted my hard drive to clean it up last week, MusicMatch replaced Jukebox by offering instead a new 8.2 version on their site.

When I tried to install the new 8.2 Plus version, they told me that I had to repay them because my purchase was for only the old 8.1 version.

My $20 key, which I bought in October, is now obsolete. What the hell is wrong with the people at MusicMatch?

locustfurnace, does this one has the record features like Musicmatch?
(Musicmatch has features to record from microphone, line-n, and a ripper, also making audio CDs).

locustfurnace
12-18-2003, 12:21 AM
I don't believe it does. Line-in recording can easily be handled by your built-in Windows recorder, although those sort of apps that do handle in-line recording are very primitive and do not give much control over the quality of the recording. You would really be better served with an audio editor for such purposes, as the programmers focus on recording, while these music players are more of the swiss-army knife of audio, they might be able to do it, but they usually are not the best (or even good) tools for the job.
For inline recording; for quality, not for general purpose recording, you might wish to look for a utility designed for and specializes in this. Such as Cool Edit, Sound Forge, or Audacity; which Audacity is freeware by the way.
If you want something that looks good to play music, those apps are fine, if you want something that will give the most focus on playback quality, then you might want to try Foobar2000, it lacks the pretty UI, but its developers just concentrate on overall high quality playback.

A good start would of been to follow the advice in this thread (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=1657) and/or the pinned topic.

As the musicmatch support archives a guest posted contain a few versions maybe we will see all those M.M threads lumped together, In case someone doesnt have enough work to do on the site!

I guess blondes might choose a file like this mmsetup_8.20.0131_ENU.exe

Hi. I'm having trouble with MusicMatch Jukebox (series 8). The earlier versions of this application, versions 8.0 and 8.1, had bugs that caused them to hang with XP.

After I upgraded to the Pro version of 8.1, I received a fix included in version 8.2. Unfortunately, I no longer have that and and my reinstall with version 8.1 is just "hanging" there -- "hourglass" city -- after each attempt to install. SO -- I'd really appreciate a copy of the version 8.2 file.

Thanks!

Hey,

I swore by Musicmatch for the longest time because I liked all the advanced features it had. But it up and died on me so many times, even after I would re-install Windows, etc., it would work for awhile and then poop out again. There are so many good players out there and I liked Winamp, but it didn't have the file organization that I liked from Musicmatch, (album art, being able to rename a batch of files by the tag ID, etc.), so I finally found Mediamonkey and it does everything Musicmatch did and then some... plus, it doesn't crash every other minute.

I don't have an iPod, but supposedly, it supports iPod synching, cd-ripping and burning, etc..

The best thing is it's freeware and you can get the gold version for $19.95...

chk it out.. www.mediamonkey.com

I used to have musicmatch 6, but cannot find the version I used to have. I had it on a cd, but it wont work now. All I remember about it is that the icon was like this:
**/\-----/
*/**\**/
/------\/
*=this showed up wrong with just spaces, so I had to put these here to make it look right, these are the equivalent of a space, please treat it like that
With the '\' being the middle, and one side being black, one white. an 'm' was in the middle, and i think there were spike things around the 'm', like this:
*/\
<m>
*\/
Please excuse my ASCII, its the best way I can illustrate it
Does someone have that version, or know where I can get it?

Thanks for the link. I used it to install MMJB v7.5 on my old pc (OS XP Pro, SP2) and it works fine. Today, I tried to install it on our laptop (OS XP Home, SP2) but it won't completely install. I make it all the way to the end of the 'installshield wizard' and then nothing happens. I end up having to do the "ctrl alt del". Then I get a box saying that "an error occurred while launching the setup. The remote procedure call failed." (Yes, I'm connected to the internet) Anybody got any ideas why and how to fix it?

Have you installed IE7. If so uninstall it and go back to IE6. That should solve your problem.

Thanks to those who addressed the problem with Installing any type of MusicMatch Jukebox and receiving the error ... "The remote procedure call failed"

After uninstalling IE 7 and disabling Spybot's "Use in resident IE sessions" which was blocking stuff through Firefox too I think, I was able to install MM. I will give version 7.5 a whirl.

Just wanted to say thanks. This is the first forum I have ever used to work for me.

Hi, please post in exisiting threads there are already plenty of musicmatch.
It may be of benefit if you described any specific features or graphics of the version you had rather than just a rough date of pc purchase, so that users of the software may more easily recognise what you are after.

take the time to read the pinned topic in request forum.

I get the same error. Regardless of what old version I attempt to install or how/where I download it freezes at the end and I recieve that error when I force quit it. I am running windows xp sp2 media center addition. I think it has something to do with the RPC fixes in service pak 2?

I've been through all that, all versions (7 to 8.2) not installing, and with remote procedure fail. I finally moved to my laptop, also with XP, but not fully updated (no IE7), then v 7.5 installed and worked first up. This suggests that IE7 might be the problem, although I also wonder if previous installs have left something that blocks installation.
