Forgive my slightly negative response to this topic but wouldn't most people who log on to this forum consider that old versions are better, thus biasing the result of the poll ?

Well, all I know is that the new version of KaZaa comes complete with a virus payload, so you decide whether the old version is better.

I would not of thought that even Sharman and Co. would offer virus riddled software ?

Its highly unlikely a company is going to offer virus infected files to users, since it would be illegal (http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/1030.html), and such a company would not last long; the sharman network makes money, and by turning away their userbase, they will be cutting off their revenue source.
I think you should rephrase "virus" to spyware.

Exactly, if your on this site, you must have a reason to prefer an old version over the new, so this poll is wasteful.

New versions are better than old.

Its abit lame but i CAN'T STAND having an out-of-date product.

The smell of new version is their and i can't resist it, I MUST upgrade

But sometimes old version is better

Wow, someone took their time to dig up this nearly 2 year old poll.

Anyways, in my opinion, oldversions are better. Especially if a new program takes up a lot of your RAM. I installed Yahoo! Messenger 6 on my Windows ME computer and it REALLY, REALLY is slow. I'm switching back to 5.6, because it uses lesser RAM then version 6.

i guess the programs you were using when this was started are classed as good old versions now OLD IS DEFINITELY BEST

It is more of a personal preference for most, at least I think it is. I like old versions better because I am already comfortable with them...New versions are ok once u get to know them...Most programs are upgraded to include more user friendly options or add features thet are requested by the users out here...Just an openion...Thanx for the forum.

I have found that sometimes older versions are much better, sometimes much worse, and sometimes not very different at all. :)

It all depends

Take ZA's version 5.0 release

awful

newer versions are made to offer more features, fix issues, and ofcourse to make the company for money. to me, it depends on the program and whether or not I need the new features. like currently I use a 3 year old version of Flashfxp, why? cause it does the job I need it to do and thats all I need. so to me, I have no preference, cause my pc can handle bloated programs.

I agree, newer versions seem to be loaded with too much bell and whistle crap, until the newer software, depending upon what it is and who makes it, can cause your computer to slow down so badly, until it locks up. I have also noticed that some of the newer versions of software are bogged down with ads and other spyware, enabling some stranger to know what you do while on your computer.

The new versions of the programs worldwide are principally better than their old versions, because the old ones have bugs, problems and conflicts with the o. systems. But sometimes we really need the old versions, because we don`t have another choice; I have a good Personal Computer - Pentium 4 with 1 GB Ram, but I also use a very old notebook with Pentium 2 CPU and 80 MB Ram - and THIS is a very good reason to use old software.

I voted for both, peace ;)
