For Windows or Mac?
Since this is a Windows forum, i'll just look for the Windows version.
Itunes 4.2.0.42 (ftp://ftp.relline.ru/pub/win/sound/iTunes-4.2.0.72.exe) (19megs) unverified

Also, files can be found in this other iTunes thread;
http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?a...t=ST&f=3&t=2587 (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=2587)

WRONG 4.2 has beed found before as a search would have reveiled.

ftp://ftp.relline.ru/pub/win/sound/iTunes-4.2.0.72.exe

As for 4.5 the 4.6 was just released 5 days ago??????

Do you think that this site has nothing better to do then to search for the last known version just because a new version was just released in case someone missed downloading it less then a week ago?

The most likley reason the others your asking for are not on the site would be due to noone finding an old version of those.
Not all oldversion are lurking about in easy to find places.
I post what i find. if i dont find it, I cant very well post it.

If someone has those versions your seeking then they should send them on in.

That link points to http://www.softpedia.com/public/scripts/do...es+4.5%22&hl=en (http://www.softpedia.com/public/scripts/downloadhero/15-12-89/+%22download+iTunes+4.5%22&hl=en) just remove the googled added part. and you will see in the Webbrowser Title banner, that the program is Itunes 4.6.0.15, I downloaded it anyway, its nearly 20megs, and it will only install on Windows 2000 or XP machines, which i am not running. But it could be the 4.5, I can not verify its version # since i can not install the app.

Many times sites just link right back to the current version, even if the page states otherwise.

Can try this version these versions are unconfirmed..
iTunes v4.1.1 (ftp://195.146.65.20/pub/win/sound/iTunes-4.1.1.exe)
iTunes v4.1.1.54 (ftp://ftp.ifmo.ru/win/soft/multimedia/QuickTime/iTunesSetup.exe) (19.5megs)
ITunes v4.5031 (ftp://ftp.freenet.de/pub/.disk0/filepilot/windows/multimedia/audio/itunes/iTunesSetup_45031.exe) (21megs) [nevermind its Non-English Language version]
iTunes 4.6 (ftp://ftp.freenet.de/pub/.disk0/filepilot/windows/multimedia/audio/itunes/iTunesSetup.exe) (20megs)

i can verify for a fact that using that link downloads 4.5.0.whatever. the softpedia link does link to 4.6, but using the google cache link is a copy of the softpedia page that had a link to 4.5. most sites like that tend to keep old versions of software they are offering for downloading; googles cache of the old page includes to the link to 4.5 in it, and it downloads 4.5.

the link you provided links to the current version of the page on softpedias site, and that page links to 4.6
the old version of the page, stored on googles server, has the link to 4.5

If you had posted in the correct board, this one - Request, and not under the programs board. You would have read the pinned topic, informing you how to submit a proper request, but first, searching the board, which would have revealed this thread.

please read and follow the pinned topic HOW TO REQUEST AN APP and add the info as required , also be sure to search the the forum before posting to see if the title you seek has been requested before , in this case it has , if possible add a request to an existing thread even if it is for a different version of the same program , this help keep all relevent information together and not spread about making it more difficult for others to find , heres the search results http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?a...highlite=itunes (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=Search&CODE=show&searchid=97e3031d7cef45e61058c5fbe4c3b856&search_in=posts&result_type=topics&highlite=itunes)

Looks like we can't help you till the LEGAL issues get settled. O.V. had to remove their links to older I-tunes due to legal problems. See here:

Well heres what happened, i upgraded to 6.0 version of itunes w/o realizing it was only for MACs, and when it tried to install quicktime 7.0.3 it failed, so now i cannot even open up itunes when i do i get this:

Error: quicktime version 7.0.2, quicktime 7.0.3 is needed to run itunes 6.0!

well...i can't fix it, in any case...

7.0.3 is only avaliable for MACs...

Stupid Itunes now requires that you have Windows 2000 or XP, which is pretty gimpy if you ask me.
I'd really like an older version that works on Windows ME/98

Thanks!

I-tunes has always required 2000 or XP. There are no versions now, or has there ever been, for any earlier platforms.

I'm seeking the same as Patricia. For some weird reason, the new download of Itunes from their website freezing in the middle of installation and/or it keeps installing quicktime (bar goes from empty to complete, then does it again without change). So if anyone has this 4.9 version or even the version right before this latest one which is 6, link us! Thank you!

not sure exactly where to put this, but i was trying to find an older version of iTunes because i heard that they are sending anon user info back with the newer version (i think started with 6.0 or 6.0.2 which is out now).

there are no links on the iTunes page, is it still under construction or have they been removed?

thanx in advanced

Not sure if any of Apples iTunes work on Windows 98. Considering that the first Ipod available for Microsoft Windows was in 2002, but did not include a Windows compatible iTunes software, as it shipped with Musicmatch.
October 16th 2003, Apple released iTunes 4.1 which was the very first time it was available for Microsoft Windows. Bear in mind that 2003 is five years past MS Windows 98s' prime.

So checking on the system requirements for iTunes 4.1 at Version Tracker (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/windows/29621&vid=120054) states it works with Microsoft Windows 2000 & XP. No mention of 98.

You might want to try this program.

Anapod (http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/reinit.php)

Anapod Reinitializer is a standalone utility that helps you to reformat and reinitialize iPods for use on Windows. We developed it as a useful tool for our Anapod Explorer users, but are making it freely available to the general public as well.

If you are running Windows 98 or ME, you know that none of Apple's iPod software runs on these versions of Windows. Using Anapod Reinitializer, you can reformat your iPod on Windows 98/ME, and then use our Anapod Explorer product to transfer and manage your music.
