Icq Lite

Hi there,

I've just installed ICQ Lite build 1253. After I login, a box comes up saying I must install the new version in order to continue. But I don't want the new version. I clicked the "what's new" button, and in the screenshots there, clear as day, you can see a dirty great ad panel, plus all sorts of features I don't want at all. The only other option is to click "close", which exits the program. Is there any way around this at all please?

Most likely not. Since the server can do a handshake with the client and refuse it to make a connection. This is rather common with all chat apps that are blocking older clients from connecting.
You could use an older ICQ Full version. Those do connect, I am running ICQ2003 and I have no problems.
From what I have seen the lite versions are blocked after a new lite version is released.
