Hi~
I received the notice for a critical upgrade for Windows 98SE a few days ago and so of course went to get it right away...part of my new "be nicer to the computer" promise. The newsgroup forum at Windows support is full of people dealing with the chaos this upgrade has caused - with nobody getting any real answers that I can tell.
(The upgrade failed and so I thought I was fine until I tried to open windows explorer; I've also been getting a download notice at start up from Norton Systemworks 2003 - REGVERS32 - or something similiar -)Although that didn't happen this morning.

It's actually even worse than I thought...I can't access any program files without an error message. Some of the ones I used yestrday I can't open this morning. Do you think there's something in the critical update that's causing a virus? I assumed the (failed) update was my problem as there are so many posts at the MS support site already with the same problems.
The update is still available at the MS site...I wouldn't go there for the update if you haven't already!

You installed the DOWNGRADE, the upgrade is called "Linux".

Never upgrade Windows unless something is wrong, or if something requires it.

Windows is better...

But u never use the upgrade version on a lower version...
do a clean format - its better safer and alot easier than linux...

Try this site. There are enough problems relating to Norton that would seem to be causing your problem.
