If you just need something for encryption, look into this thread for PGP (Pretty Good Privacy).

Hello,
I was looking for that program in particular, though I will look at the others and see what I can find there that I can use.

Not sure if this is the right program. It looks like when it was remote hosted they changed the name from Crypt04 to Crypt4.

Crypt4 (http://www.calc.org/programs/download.php?id=114)

I don't think that Crypt4 is the same as Crypt04, You can find a description of Crypt04 Here http://www.webgrid.co.uk/security_3.html

Version History

Version Features
0.10(ß) NOT RELEASED
Basic Crypt04 format structure conceived
Crypt04 Text Interface added

0.20(ß) NOT RELEASED
External compression/security engine added
HTML-Based help file included
Crypt04 Logo designed

1.00 First edition with user interface based on Dion Nicolaas' The Wizards Apprentice
All command line-based features removed
First version for public release

1.10 First version submitted to Tucows (Not accepted however)
Troubleshooting section added to HTML help
Installer now based on The Wizard's Apprentice
First edition to use GOLSoft's Shortening Routine (Shortene) - Resolves long filename issues

1.20 DOS Encryption Engine issues/Command Prompt difficulty (As raised by Tucows) solved
User Interface Display issues resolved
Text-based Progress Meter replaced by Graphical edition
DOS-Based 'Progress Window' has been made redundant, and will now operate minimised, to reduce clutter. Only visual display presented to user is the GUI software.
Post-Unsuccessful Decryption file recovery is now much smoother. 'Hider' file will be fully restored if decryption fails - there is now no need to save an extra copy of the encryption to avoid losing it/
Interface and guide are now more user-friendly
Help now uses Microsoft's Compiled Hypertext Markup format to avoid dodgy redistribution.

------------
Do you really need this software version there are many other more fully developed encription programs available.

I found v1.10 buggy & unusable on win98 and v1.20 installed missing the main .exe & other components.

Okay,
Does anyone know of a good, secure, symmetric encryptor?
