totally untrue , the reason you have to have the machine chipped is because it is impossible for conventional cd burners to write certain sectors of a playstation disc which the machine needs to read before it will boot and load the game, this is the function of the chip it tricks the machine into thinking it is a genuine game, also unlike the ps1 which was a simple chipping job do not try this yourself on a ps2 as it is a major pain and easy to run joints together as they are so close on the pcb and it is also very easy to cook the parts that you solder the connections to

not at all like nero , clone cd is a cd copying program , very simple and very reliable, but does not have all the options that come with a complete cd authoring program such as nero, also regardless of what some sites claim there is not a software program available that will make a working copy of a ps2 game unless the machine has been chipped.

What old version of CloneCD gives you the best copying power and works best with clony?

Not a good way to start out as a new member by posting 3 times. Thats viewed the same way as spam.
Even though the board can do polls, no one here ever bothers with them. Thats why when you are new to a board it is always best to lurk a while, read some postings, get a feel for the way the the boards members use it.
It is also best to post into an existing thread, and not start a another new one. There is a CloneCD thread already on this board, infact it is just a few post below your NEW thread.
I'll help you out by merging your thread with that one.

To answer your question, the best would be whatever you want in an app. Some people want different things. Example; for me, the best CD Recording apps are ones that can do RockRidge and Romeo file formats. Nero might be good, but it lacks Romeo.

seeing as clony is designed to over ride copy protection and allow protected discs to be copied it could well be classed as illegal, if you want a copying program that is very cheap and reliable you could try ashampoo cd recording suite from www.ashampoo.com very cheap as are all their products and extremely reliable.

But what if you wanted a Backup copy for the Safe deposit box? If it's in the EULA that you can make one backup copy, then it should be Legal to copy, copy protected disc.

Even if coping a works is legal under the "Fair Use Law," if the object is wrapped around any form of encryption, it is Illegal under the DMCA.
Coping DVD's is legal, under the 'Fair Use Law' but.. to get to the content, one must bypass the encryption system, which is illegal.
So therefore coping encrypted DVD's is illegal.

This is a bonus for the movie industry, they are not forbidding you to copy their works. But you would be breaking a law (DMCA) by doing so. Which is not controlled by the movie biz.

Remember it is not anyone else's responsibility that you are aware of all laws.
So the movie industry can say; "sure, you can copy our works for a backup."
Doing so would require breaking a law. Which would be your responsibility to know.
