Lavasoft Adaware

When Adaware first came out, it worked fine with my Win 95. Last week I had to reformat my hard drive, and after downloading adaware I found the file would not open. I started using the 5.8 version, but then one night while *just browsing* around I found an adawre that does work on Win 95, just as well as it did before. It was on a German webpage (had to translate), but at 1.6 mb, it was the right one. I have included the web address for those who may want it.

why not use adaware 6.0 for windows 95 98 get it here http://www.networkingfiles.com/Cookie/adaware.htm just wundrin what is the version you downloaded this list is from the oldversion download section for adaware and none are listed as 1.6mb has yours come bundled with something else ? The version the 1st poster supplied a link to, is to version F6.0.3.181, the filesize is 1.65megs. The program is titled Ad-aware 6 Personal

I was using Adaware 5.83 from oldversions.com, a nice enough version; but wanted to have Version 6, and since the 2.50mb would not open, I started cruising around, looking for something in between, which could be updated as needed. I was just letting others know, if they were interested.

Fill out the necessary info, such as the website, current version, and the version your seeking, and maybe it will be found. This can greatly improve your chance of getting the app you seek.

You should have added the info into that thread, no need to start a new thread for every single version difference in a file. It works better for the whole website, if the same titles are posted in a single thread.
Its noted in the Howto request an App to post into existing thread, for the above reasons. If every one file-seeker posts 1 request for each change in version or builds, then this site would be next to impossible to navigate, search or find any useful information.

The link you added, does not even have a download or a product called ad-aware pro. Just a few older file-sharing apps (non p2p).

Ad-aware plus & Pro are the paid versions of ad-aware, and are sent to you through a link when you pay for it and register.. i suggest you download the free public version of Ad-aware, as its just as good but is missing some features..

please read the pinned topic HOW TO REQUEST AN APP and add the necessary info back into this thread , also search the forums before posting as this has maybe been requested and fulfilled before

Just a word of caution.

AdAware has changed to the "SE" series....Versions 5.x, 6.x & etc are no longer being supported by Lavasoft.

If you wish to continue to recieve updated definitions of new adware, you should download the current version.

As far as I know "AdAware SE Personal Build 1.05" is the current free offering.

I want to buy a program/package that will locate and kill all spyware, adware and pop-ups on my pc, i am using win98. I have seen a lot of programs on the shelf but i would like to know what other people use before i make my final choice.

BTW: Beware of spyware disguised as a spyware killer. Some will give you a false positive to entice you to buy the software. Never buy a security tool if you first heard of it in a pop-up or spam.

this comes up so often on many forums, a personal preference of mine is spybot search and destroy which is in the list of spyware removers that LOCUSTFURNACE compiled i run this on all my systems along with adaware both of which are free programs. i settled on these pair after trying many different ones and these giving the best results over many others

Thanks for the help, my pc is running a lot smoother now and without all the pop-ups. I think they should be stopped for good, if i want to gamble, have my breasts enlarged or watch porn then i will go to those sites if and when i want to not because of a pop-up. I guess thats just my opinion but they are anoying.

I find Panicware&#39;s Pop-up Blocker v2.6 set to aggressive mode very affective at blocking pop-ups. I might be lucky if 1 in 1000 makes it through. As the link on here seems to be dead to the v2.6 I&#39;ve uploaded for you through you.sendit.com.

Instructions for using this pop-up stop

After installing PopUpStopper26.exe you&#39;ll see a white box
with a red X in it and a blue line on top beside your clock.

Right click on this icon and left click preferences.
