Windows Messenger will NOT work with older Windows versions. I tried to install Windows Messenger 4.7 on my Windows Me, figuring it would work, but it didn't. I got a message saying, "Windows Messenger 4.7 is not compatible for your OS...".
Program Name: Windows Messenger
Website: http://messenger.microsoft.com
Current version: 4.7.3000
Desired versions: 4.0
Description: Shows whether your friends are online and lets you have online conversations.

Does anyone know where I can get this version of Windows Messenger?
Windows Messenger 4.0 is the default messenger installed by Windows XP. This might help you with this install if you have an XP CD:

No luck finding the full install yet.

I don't think I have one, since I think Windows XP was preinstalled on my computer. (That has no XP Service Pack.)
