I could supply you with a few versions, and it would be nice if you could find a few for me. Shareware, of course <_<

Admin edit: http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=psp for old versions of Paint Shop Pro.

According to the website, you need permission to offer evaluations of their software for download.

"If you want to include a 30-day evaluation version of Jasc's software products on your website, in your book, magazine or other projects, please contact jasc.com. "
http://www.jasc.com/evalrequest.asp?

I do not think it would be legal for anyone to offer any versions without permisison. now there are sites that do offer it.

http://www.sharewarejunkies.com/00zwd10/pa...t_shop_pro7.htm (http://www.sharewarejunkies.com/00zwd10/paint_shop_pro7.htm)

just do a search in google.com, mamma.com, and you will find alot of similar sites.

do to the price of Jasc and PSPro. you might want to consider a graphics suite that is free. the most powerful suite i know of is TheGimp
http://www.gimp.org/the_gimp.html

I use it all the time. since it works in just about any operating system I run.
and a few others you might want to check into.

Paint Shop Pro is a retail app, you find shareware versions and use them, But it is illegal to offer full retail apps of this program.

If you want a paint shop editor, and you want one for free, you can try The Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/), It is very similar to Paint Shop Pro, except that it is free.

No, that page is if you wish to build The Gimp from source files.
Just to make sure it was simple to install, i just now installed The Gimp, and it was simple, as any other Windows binary package.
To install, you need to download 2 packages, GTK+ & The Gimp.
Both can be downloaded from here
http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/stable.html, Download both the
GTK+ for Windows (version 1.3.0-20030717-1) and the
The Gimp for Windows (version 1.2.5-20030729-1)
then unzip GTK+ and install it, then once it is finished, unzip & install The Gimp, then run it.
that's all there is to it.
If you wish to use GIFs, then you will want to download those support packages, otherwise you don't have to. It would be better just to use PNG or MNG formats than GIF anyhow.

i personally use paintshop pro 5 , got it free on a cover disc from a magazine, not bad really considering that the whole full version including the registration key was free to all purchasers of the mag. i guess jasc gave this away to promote the newer versions. anyways looking at the homepage one may as well buy version 8 as they are giving away version 9 free to purchasers of v8 at the moment

Paint Shop Pro 7 was the last version which included the classic Jasc design. In version 8, the interface is strikingly a rip off of Adobe Paint Shop. The entire reason I used this program was because of it's easier interface that performed practically all the same functions as Adobe. Euro Distribution is preferred.

Did you not see the Howto Request an App pinned to the very top of this board?
I am curious as to why people are unable to see it. Its on the top, first topic....

Had you read the Howto, you would have seen the sentence about searching before posting, Since you said you can not find this anywhere, you did not try very hard to search previous threads. As you can see, there are many threads in this topic.

If you want to be contacted, then you should register, and then subscribe to a thread. Which when updated, it would e-mail you letting you know a reply was written to your post.

for once a properly made out request, unfortunately to supply you with a full version would be illegal, that is the idea of a trial version , to give the user the chance to try it before PURCHASING it , if you want to carry on using the app after the trial period then purchase it , or use a freeware alternative try searching the forums as photoshop and similar apps have been requested before and those threads will have other titles and links in them

As the Howto notes. Please post into an already existing thread, regardless of the replies. This keeps the board clean, less cluttered and more useable for future requestees.

Requesting a Full Version is NOT what this board is about. And it is illegal, no matter what others may think, or feel towards sharing full versions of software, it is not condoned, tolerated here.

There are many apps you can use that are freeware if you can not afford the licensing fees.

http://www.jasc.com/en/products/default.asp?locid=3712 there is no such thoing as a totally free version of psp 9 they do a demo version try it and if you like it then you can buy a licence for the program. please when making requests search before posting and always add your request to an existing thread that way it keeps all relevent information together, search through past postings for paintshop and other such as photoshop threads and if you want a totally free program there are a few listed.one such thread http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?a...l=paintshop+pro (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=2982&hl=paintshop+pro)

Seeing that the poster, posted that reply back in 2002, its unlikely that person is still around.
Also, they were selling it on e-bay, would not have made economical sense to try to sell it, then offer links to it for others to download. Who then would pay?
Lastly, posting links for a retail version is illegal. Even if that person did post those links, they would be removed from Oldversion.com as soon as they showed up.

you cannot download a full version as it would be illegal and also illegal to add a link to a site that had an illegal version, just because threy no longer support the older version does not mean it is legal to do as you like with it as they still hold the copywright, if you want this app try ww.ebay.com or your local computer jumble store.searching the forum would of saved you asking this as you would of found your answer without posting this and you would of also found many alternative FREE programs as well.

wrong again my friend , the op had a version off of a cover disc , this was a free version that didnt expire as psp did this with some of its older versions to promote the sale of the newer versions, you had to install the app and then get the serial number online, merely a promotion for their latest title. they did psp 5 for free on cover discs as version 7 was released.i know i have several versions aquired this way.

Oldversion.com is not about sharing illegal content. The only files found here will be Shareware or Freeware or similar. Offering full versions of software is illegal, regardless of if the developers cease supporting older versions.
Seeing that you are new here, you should have taken the time to search the boards, you would have found this thread which yours' was merged into.
Having done so, you may have found a version you seek already listed.

when making requests please read and follow the pinned topic HOW TO REQUEST AN APP at the top of the forum, this also details to search before posting to see if the app has been requested and answered before, in this case it has http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?a...2&hl=paint+shop (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=2982&hl=paint+shop) if a thread is found by searching but does not contain the version you require add the request to that thread as it keeps all relevent info together and saves the moderator and site owners the job of moving and merging threads.

Thanks.

Hi,
the following versions of Paint Shop Pro are the earliest ones I found when I searched. I didn’t find any version 1xxx.
According to this site (http://www.schenectady.k12.ny.us/putman/psp/DOCS/3/psp3dl.html) you ought to be able to run version 3.11 on your computer.

Good luck !!!

I remember as a matter of fact that I used the evaluation version of Paint Shop Pro 3.x on Windows 3.1x.

Of course, back then (circa 2002) the older evaluation versions were still available for download from JASC's website. How things change...

Hi, I am looking for a free trial of Paint Shop Pro, preferably versions 7-9. I searched all over the internet, and all I can find is version 10. I want just a free trial, b/c I want to see if I like it first before I buy it. If you can help me, that would be wonderful :)

Program Name:Paint Shop Pro 9
Website:www.jasc.com
Current version:11
Desired versions:9
Description:I think you know

I've already searched the site and the link provided in this thread is dead. Jasc removed it from their website. I already own Version 7, I tried 8 and was not fond of it, but I was interested in trying the 9th version. Now that I've joined up with a freeware adventure game project I thought it was time to look into newer versions.
BTW the reason I'm not looking at 10 is because I'm running Win98, which 10 doesn't support.

Thanks to this thread, I now have my old Paint Shop Pro 3, but I have a problem which may or may not be a problem, but I don't want to find out the hard way.

Many years ago I bought Paint Shop Pro 3. I loved it. However, eventually I had to leave that computer and guess what I can't find.

I now want to BUY this trial version. Yes, I want to buy it again!

So, what do I do? According to the software, I can purchase it via www.jasc.com/order.html

That page is now Corel-driven. Doh!

I want to get this trial version upgraded to a version that won't shut off by BUYING it.

I found this thread via the search option and thus far have seen no solution to my problem.

By no means do I want to rip off Jasc, for they deserve to be paid, but where are they now so that I can pay them? Am I just screwed, or can I buy this and keep this trial version of my long time favorite from expiring?

a good point, jasc was acquired and engulfed by corel and obviously took over their product lines as well, firstly have you contacted corel regarding your problem, they may well be able to sort you out.contact their support and explain your needs and see what they say you may just be lucky.

the gaffer,

That's what I intend to do next: contact people who couldn't care less about my problem. (Think about it. Why would Corel try to keep me from buyng their latest overpriced learning curve headache?) But yes, that's what I intend to do.

I do not expect to speak with someone I'll understand, first off: someone who'll put me on hold and then return minutes later with zip. Next, I'll try email and maybe get a "tough bananas!" + commercial response. Why do you think Corel bought Jasc? Jasc rocked, but it was too small to compete with Corel. Did Corel put out Paint Shop Pro after the purchase? No, Corel continued to put out crap and stole the name Paint Shop Pro.

I seriously doubt Corel is going to give me the time of day. The only way I see it could happen is if I happen to get a hold of someone with Corel who has zero sense for business.

Corel had to buy Jasc or Jasc would've drained Corel dry. Corel would've had to go back to the drawing board and adapted to the feel of PSP. It's a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you must change to what new customers will want, but, on the other hand, you can't change radically either lest you shake loose your backbone customers supporting your "industry standard" status. Hence, Corel had to buy or die. The sooner people forget PSP ever existed the better for Corel.

the gaffer
11-23-2006, 05:21 AM
i see your point yet you seem to go a long way about getting it across, but remember in the world of business any sale is better than no sale and in many cases it is the manner in which you contact such companies that determines whether or not you actually get a favourable response.

locustfurnace
11-23-2006, 09:50 AM
Hence, Corel had to buy or die.

Thats a far fetched statement. Considering JASC was a single product line, while COREL has had it's hand in many areas of software development. COREL even packaged up their own Operating System years ago, which was later sold and is now known as Xanadros OS.

Corel makes some excellent plug-ins for Photoshop. Their KPT line is second to none.
What about their still surviving WordPerfect suite.

It's more likely that JASC PSP may not have been able to survive as it was. To develop to the ever growing technology you must have a lot of money to spend on development.
Then again, this is the way things are today. A favorite graphics editor I used was Micrografx PhotoMagic. It too was bought up by the biggest tech company around, Microsoft. Did Microsoft feel threatened by this company's product? Very unlikely.

To get to your issue. There is not going to be a simple solution. Oldversion.com does not provide you with every remedy to your software woes. The site is an archive. If you have a license you can find the software here. It's not the other way around.

There may be a slight chance you can find a CD version shipped with older PC's at computer shows. Or packaged with magazine subscriptions.

Otherwise, another solution is to use something else. Such as the Free Software/ Open Source editor, 'The GIMP'.

The biggest threat to a bad product is competition. For a bad product to get a large, if not the, market share, requires destroying the competition, first. As a simple example, take "Made in China." If your only alternative is "Made in China," then it matters not whether the product works as the consumer desires. In fact, eventually the consumer will settle for inferiority as a given, which is largely where things are now. The politicians call this a free market, but the truth is it's just the opposite. If you have to buy that which you don't want, because that's all there is, it's called bondage. ...and it's still true even if the press doesn't say so.

As another example, take money. At one time the politicians had to abide by the law. This was a time when there was competition for the product called money. But then the politicians figured out that they could side with a bank and its ability to finance through infinite debt that could be charged to the people, instead of compete for the power granted to them by the people which created the law. Now there is no competition for the product, and look what we have. We have a government that does not give a hoot what we have to say about anything, in reality, in spite of what the bought press says constantly, and especially come election time, because it can always fund (exponentially!) whatever by charging us with the debt of borrowing from a bank as opposed to coming to us for funding. First you crush the competition, and then, eventually, the people accept the bondage and even will, naively, call it freedom. Freedom becomes slavery, and slavery becomes freedom. The people will choose to carry the ball and chain because they've known no other existence while they have been conditioned to forget the law which kept them free.

There are more examples, but that'll do. The point is the success of a bad product requires destroying competition first.

Nothing is free. Everything has a cost. It's just that some costs are lower, even much lower, which creates the illusion of happiness for a time.

Not to keep driving this thread off-topic, but as with giving people an alternative to software titles. There exists an alternative to the Federal Reserve Note as well.

http://www.libertydollar.org/

"America's Inflation Proof Currency"
"100% Backed and Redeemable in gold and Silver"

Alternatives will always exist, its just up to the people in large to decide if they want to change to something they have not used and are unfamiliar with.

JASC PSP v5.01
install OR upgrade

On oldversion.com they only have the install file for PSP v5.0 -- I desperately need the install file for PSP version 5.01 or the upgrade file to upgrade v5.0 to v5.01 (the installation file for the evaluation copy of PSP v5.01 used to be all over the internet and now it seems to have dissapeared? :(

This was a major upgrade because v5.01 made it compatible with every plugin that was developed for Adobe Photoshop at the time.

If anybody know's where I can find the install OR upgrade file for Jasc Paint Shop Pro 5.01 you would be literally almost saving my career.

Thank you,
Mitch
Tampa, FL

PS. I may have the psp v5.01 install file on a CDR god know's where, trust me I've been looking--but if I find it I will be sure to send it in and make sure oldversion.com has it up there! Only true PSP users know how HUGE the difference is between v5 and v5.01
