Thanks to Microsoft sysinternals.com is no more, MS acquired the site and rights to all of the good freeware utilities that used to be there. The last time I grabbed most of the utils on the old site was in March of 2006.

Let me know where to send them if you want them, and you do want them even if you aren't familiar with the old sysinternals.com! - http://www.sysinternals.com will redirect you to the new MS site where you can get an idea of what used to be. The apps are still there but now have the MS brand and who knows what else. I won't touch the new versions.

It's sad to see things like this happen. I found your site looking for tinyfirewall who was also consumed by the competition. I think MS finally got tired of having a couple of guys running a website that MS had to refer to for utilties to figure out their own software. They paid 'em off, made 'em rich and made them sign non-disclosure agreements.

Anyway, I owe you one for tinyfirewall. Let me know where to send/up 'em. Here's what I have.

Command Line:
AdRestore
Autologon
ClockRes
Contig
Ctrl2Cap
Disk Usage
DiskExt
EfsDump
Handle
Hex2dec
Hostname
Junction
ListDlls
LiveKd
LogonSessions
PendMoves
PsExec
PsFile
PsInfo
PsKill
PsList
PsLoggedOn
PsLogList
PsService
PsSuspend
PsTools

Regjump

GUI:
AccessEnum
Autoruns
BgInfo
CacheSet
CpuMon
DebugViewNt
DiskMon
DiskView
Filemon
FilemonNt
LoadOrder
NewSid
PageDefrag
ProcessExplorerNt

I hope they are all backed up, I will double check my list to see the deal and get back to you as to which ones we require.

What about the source code?

What's truly gone forever at this point is the source code that could help other people spawn a new breed of non-Microsoft utilities

Wow, the Microsoft-version of the command-line programs pop-up a GUI license agreement page.

How retarded is that?

We desperately need old versions here

Yeah, is the source code available? It would be very nice for OldVersion.com to have access to source code, as I read in Thomas Friedman's book - The World is Flat, that some of our best innovations in Apache have came from utilizing both open source technology and IBMs / Microsofts ;) to merge into a free-flowing information of technology, with both companies originally trying to develop the start of Internet technology, but what really set the record on fire was when IBM took part in Microsofts endeauvor, and some guy just stepped up and developed Apache for free.

Every company was able to utilize this free service in order to make a profit, sort of like a parellel I witnessed on http://www.amazon.com/Master-Key-System-Charles-Haanel/dp/1420927272 where numerous entrepreneaur's are rumored to have used a system in order to succeed in the wealth of prosperity of all developing countries worldwide.

I wasn't aware that they ever made the source code available? My most recent (Mar 2006) Offline Explorer archive doesn't have any mention of source code being available. If someone is sure that there was source was provided at one time, I can look further back in my collection. No big deal but I don't really want to be hunting for something on old CD/DVDs if there's no chance of it being there...

I can imagine that when Microsloth first showed interest in the site they might have asked SysIn. to remove source code?

They've already started changing, e.g. they have pop-up license agreements, even on non-GUI command line commands! Expect the situation to get worse

This issue forced me to register an account and say something here...

Please save all sysinternal freeware!!! Just as an example, utility "Autologon" has grown from 19kb (AUTOLOG.EXE from sysinternal) to 151kb (Autologon.exe from microsoft)!!! Moreover they are no longer distributing the source from their site!!! What stupid things are the microsoft guys doing?!...

I discovered one way to recover the things, thanks google. Google page cache is still holding the original sysinternal html files, and sysinternal is still keeping the zip files! This a link to the cached sysinternal Autologon page.

http://72.14.235.104/search?q=cache:gGR2KNz4WmUJ:www.sysinternals.com/autologon.html+sysinternal+Autologon+source+code&hl=zh-TW&gl=hk&ct=clnk&cd=1

The magic is that the "Download Autologon Source (21 KB)" link still work!!! Whoever have time please fetch everything from sysinternal as quick as possible. I don't know when will google cache expire and when will microsoft remove things from sysinternal's site.

I love sysinternal, I love oldversion

Oh no...

Although http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/AutologonSource.zip still contains the original sysinternal version, http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Autologon.zip is already changed to the microsoft version... This means that my previously suggested trick may not work for all files...

I hope my trick can help us to recover all the source files.

Another thing:
1. http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autologon.html
2. http://www.sysinternals.com/autologon.html
Link #1 will redirect you to microsoft, but link #2 will not. It is quite helpful that sysinternal's url are well-designed and predictable.

I stand corrected, there was some source code always posted at the site. I am not sure if this site is going to be able to host these files or not. I was just watching one of their DVDs and they mentioned that the EULA says something about not passing them along other than links to their site or by specific agreement blah bah blah, only getting them from their site blah bah blah -- the following links are within the EULA because the files are hosted on their site.

Anyway, here is the master list - most of the source code has been removed but at least all of the latest NON Microsloth branded versions are still there - for now... There are a couple of source code files but unfortunately not all of them. Not that I would ever post something to Usenet, in the alt.comp.freeware group but I imagine that they will be popping up there within the next week or two. Sorry my posts are so few and far between but I lead an incredibly busy life.

Now to the files, enjoy!

Yes, they are the final Sysinternals branded releases. No Microsloth shi~. Of course I have no idea how long they will be there so get 'em while you can. I think that Russinovich must have 'accidently' left them on the server. Eventually Microsloth will notice they are there...

Personally, I have them all backed up in multiple places. I have the set of six DVDs that systernals produced showing in-depth usage. I am thankful that I was able to get all of the final releases of the utilities before MS pulls the plug.

Great!!! I now obtained all the files from User1's list.

It seems to me that files from http://www.sysinternals.com/files/... are still orginal (EULA changed, program unchanged), while those in http://download.sysinternals.com/files/... are MS branded (program changed - usually an increase in size).

User1's list have 122 files
ABlix's list have 147 entries (101 unique files)
Why would there be such a difference?

Finally, is there any place to obtain those usage notes?

I have the files on my hard drive and will be posting them to the site in the next month. The problem at the moment is the amount of files and a whole new backend system is needed to post these files in an ordered and organized fashion.
