View Full Version : AIM and DeadAIM again....

After an unhappy relationship with Trillian and a brief tryst with AIM 4.8 and DeadAIM 3.2 (or whichever the last free version was, I can't be assed to remember, really), I came back to my true love, AIM 5.9. The thing is, AIM+ doesn't cut it for me anymore -- the window clearing and the 'logging' (which never worked for me) were enough to turn me off of it. So, DeadAIM... 4.5 seems to be at least largely compatible with 5.9; it's installed and working correctly for the most part, save a few visual glitches that I can live with. (Some of the buttons are playing hide and seek, rather than just hiding like good buttons should.)

The only real problem I'm having is that the cloning seems hit-or-miss. I can run one copy fine, but when I start cloning, sometimes it just plain doesn't work. It'll start the process, but won't get as far as the program; I always have to jump on Task Manager to kill the processes. (And it always starts at least two new processes when I try to clone once. Is that normal?) Has anyone else had (or more importantly, fixed) this problem?

eta: In lieu of a solution, recommendations for either a new IM client or an AIM hack / plugin would be nice. Trillian and GAIM / Pidgin aren't really options because of font issues; I need A) logging for IMs and chats, B) tabbed IMs, C) cloning / multiple AIM accounts and D) separately customizable fonts for each account. D is where Trill and GAIM both strike out, unfortunately.
