I am seeking a site to download a free Firewall for W98
Have looked at the sites that are currently on Old Version, for Firewalls, however none of them state they are suitable for W98.

Hello there :)

Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5 works great under 98, and there still are not so many security breachs in it.
I believe version 4 (now developped by Sunbelt) also works under 9x, though I'm not quite sure about it. It's free for personal use, even though some features get disabled after 30 days if you don't register.

I prefer good old version 2.1.5 though, I like the interface better.

I can't speak to the newer versions, but I've been using ZoneAlarm version 5.5 with Windows 98 for years.

Oldversion.com has versions going back as far as Version 2.0.

Is far as I'm concerned, all the versions provide a good basic firewall.
The newer versions also have some other features. Depending on the age and capabilities of your computer, some of the newer versions (with the extras) may tax the resources of your machine, but older versions should be fine.

On download.com you'll find a lot of firewalls and here's a link (http://www.download.com/Firewall-Software/3150-10435_4-0.html?tag=dir).

But since you needed a recommendation I guess that the choice above can get a bit confusing concerning which one to use. I would like to recommend that you try Comodo (http://www.download.com/Comodo-Firewall-Pro/3000-10435_4-10460704.html?tag=lst-0-9&cdlPid=10849947). You'll find a link to it here. It's totally free, cost you nothing! :)

I would like to know a little about your computer equipment over there. So if you can provide it by for example using CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php) and attach an hardware report into this thread it should be easier for me to know how much cpu power and RAM that you've got over there. Some firewalls might not work if you're sitting on an old computer.
