Its not a separate download
The Windows Movie Maker video editor is included as part of Windows Me, although you have to go looking for it (it is in the Start menu under Start / Programs / Accessories / Windows Movie Maker).
Anyone might have some nice/free alternatives to post
Read more > "Bare-bones video-editing tool leaves much to be desired." (http://www.techtv.com/freshgear/products/story/0,23008,3341291,00.html)
Actually that barebones bit sounds pretty good ! :)

If you still have the Win ME CD, you can install moviemaker from it. the main exe file is packed into WIN_17.CAB with additional supported files scattered through a half dozen other cab files.
Just got to the Add Remove menu and select Windows Setup, and chose to install MovieMaker.

as for posting links to match MovieMaker is not so cut-n-dry, since the requestee does not state what they are wanting to do with the app. some pointers to intent would narrow down and help to find closer titles which match goal. and i never used moviemaker, so i am not certain on what it does exactly.

a regular customer, thought by now ya might have picked up on the drill. Please include the website for the application, this helps avoid confusion on similar named apps. This way file-posters know what they are looking for, and what the apps will/should look like.

Is this the WMM that was/is included in Windows ME? or not a Microsoft product? - this is why a website helps clear up confusion.

don't forget before posting a topic, to check previous posting for the same title, i found this one

Please read the pinned topic How to Request an App (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=1585) if your not certain on how to make a request, then add the necessary info back into this thread.

Search the board, this is been asked already and answered, in fact, its just 2-3 links below your post.

I have a screensaver maker that does the basic requirements of transitions, music etc but just randomizes the pictures and they are not matching the music, now what im looking for i guess would be a movie maker that has the ability to save a output file to either a .exe or .scr format, ive searched on here for any threads relevant but maybe im not entering the info right as im getting no results.
The pc i want to use it on is a offline Win98se that has no .Net framework installed (if that makes any difference). Freeware would be great, a small download would be even better.
Anybody got any ideas of a prog that would be right up my proverbial alley??
Any suggestions or links would be most appreciated.

here are four you could look at, none bar 1 are particularly small, ordered to my preference only

requires Visual Basic 6 runtimes
pre XP version available here smaller download but has some documented bugs

If you want "pay for" there are a couple posted in this existing thread (but wait there's more) (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/index.php?act=ST&f=3&t=1094) , I just input <screensaver> and any date in the search panel.
Look for member Pun on how to search.

B.T.W. what maker are you using it sounds odd that it doesnt have an ordered pics option if you'd posted the details a user may of had a suggestion that may be better than installing additional software (what am I saying that s the best part;)

Onehappygunner

Cheers for the links, the one im using is something called 2Flyer Screensaver Builder v2.1, strange thing is is that it does have a randomize option for the picture display order but even if you dont select it it still screws with the order you put your pictures in when it builds your screensaver  , what i basically need is a prog that will allow me to stretch the individual length of time each picture is displayed for so i can get the pictures and transitions to match the background music.
You sound like you have used the programs you listed, do any of them do what im looking for? (Would save me a whole load of time testing each one if you know already :) )

Cheers for the linksYour welcome.
No
I dont use them but have ordered them as I would if I was going to test on your requirements being mine (:
When you find what your lookn for youll have something to contribute.
If you want to find users of the softwares the best place to look is on the sites forums or put the softwares name and <review> or <user review> in a search engine.
You can contact the developer they may like to talk about their creation.
These things should be done anyway they help slow the process .

maybe the second one had individual timing but...

What you see when you haven't got a gun!
This one sounds like it does what you want, early versions contained spyware however I doubt current versions do , untested though.

FreeSaver MP3 lets you display an unlimited number of your own JPeg, Gif or bitmap images, photos, or graphics as a screensaver, while playing MP3 files in background.

You can control the length of time each image is displayed...

As there are mysterious happenings on this forum I cant tell if you have or have not.
Anyway if you have information that the versions you seek were available as a demo or trail or free for download then post that info otherwise the files will not be available on O.V.com.

Have you read the site help files,it is not a wise idea to post in any sites forum without doing so.

Yeah. Tried the search but none of the threads helped. So, if anyone knows how/where to get an older version of WMV, please do share.

I would of thought some of those older threads (http://www.oldversion.com/talk/showpost.php?&p=4732&postcount=5) contain enough information to make it clear that oldversion.com will not be providing links to that microsoft product it was never offered as a free download.
Please post in existing threads rather than creating new ones.

Hi ProtoGirl and welcome to the site.

Can you give us a little more information? For instance, which OS are you running, service packs etc. All info you can think of can make it easier for us to help you. What computer do you use?
I can’t promise that we manage, but we can try.

Therese

Hey Protogirl,

It is almost hopeless.

I have spent several hour searching for the file you want.

The guys above gave some useful info, but I am not at all certain that I will manage with the searching. I hope that other members are searching too. Personally I don't use many extra Windows program like this one.

Unfortunately the chances of finding "your file" are very small.
M$ seems to remove the files they don’t support any more from both their web site and as many other sites on the web they manage.

Very important information in the searching is the file name.

Windows Movie Maker vers. 1 current 2.1(?) or/and 2.6 for XP, Vista mm20enu.exe 11.9 mb

From Windows download site.

The current file name for Vista is MM26_ENU.msi
Version name 1.0, download size 7.0 mb.
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d6ba5972-328e-4df7-8f9d-068fc0f80cfc&DisplayLang=en

I don’t have the slightest idea how “your file name” looks like.

I will continue searching now and then.
