Hi

Can anyone tell me which, if any, version of Yahoo Messenger will still work properly with windows 98se?

Thank you.

Yahoo no longer supports Messenger 6.0-7.5.

But thanks for the reply anyway.

If older versions won't work anymore, you may want to try alternatives (http://forum.oldversion.com/programs-support/1092-list-alternative-chat-clients.html), like Miranda (http://www.miranda-im.org/).

I personally use the Opera browser (http://www.opera.com/download/) built-in IRC client (you may use any other IRC client of your choice) to access the the Bitlbee Beta server - irc://testing.bitlbee.org, which supports the Yahoo Messenger protocol. Check this tutorial for more info (http://my.opera.com/nicomen/blog/show.dml/175550). Remember to use testing.bitlbee.org instead of the main server, because it doesn't support the latest Y!M protocol changes yet.

Version 810421 is the last version that works on Windows 2000. As I recall, I was using that version on Windows 98. Not sure.
You can also use Trillian and Miranda if authentic YM doesn't work anymore.

Yes well those are the only versions you are going to find that work on this OS.. (Who cares if they dont support them)Because you cannot sign on with those versions. They no longer work with Yahoo's sever. It will reject them.
