Help!! My USB Drive Gone Bad!!!

My USB drive is not working......all the files in it cannot be deleted as it says it write protected and i cant even format....... what can be done???

usb drive ??? please be more specific,is it a usb hard drive ?? pen drive ?? etc etc,maybe the drive has a write protect switch ??
