Trying to find an antivirus that will run on Win95 - not 95b. Any AV software will do. All the current releases are looking for minimun 95b or 98. I think Norton AV 2000 ver 6 will work.

Thank you "old version" - you have very useful site.

AVG anti virus is a free highly recommended programme. It can be obtained from
http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_index.htm?s...d8cb7c79d8af886 (http://www.grisoft.com/html/us_index.htm?session=0612285c4e95a342ad8cb7c79d8af 886)
or just use google and type AVG anti virus. That will take you to the samw page.

you can use the F-Prot versions for DOS, they have updated virus database files, so they are current, and they are FREE (DOS version is free) since it runs in DOS, don't need to worry much about the requirements of windows.

http://www.f-prot.com/download/download_fpdos.html

I have F-Prot on a bootable CD-Rom, i use to scan peoples systems, this way you can scan a system without Windows interference. Or if a file is in use and needs cleaned this way don't have to worry about that.

here is a place with some old antivirus:

http://www.fh-augsburg.de/~dauber/antivir.htm

some of the files are just linked the SAC ftp. (a slovalkian antivirus and utility archive, prehaps the largest!)

NOTE: if you are having a real virus emergency, do not depend on an old shareware virus program! Go here and do an online virus scan: (may require at least ie4)

Right, and that is why i posted a FREE up-to-date DOS version. No need to use old shareware verisons when you can get a perfectly up to date version for DOS, which will work with no problem on a win95 system.
