I have tried to connect a SMC 7004VBR router to 2 PCs. One PC is working 100% with the NET, Email & MSN Chats. The prob is with the second computer which does NOT want to connect thru to MSN.

Here is the error message I get "we are unable to sign you in to .NET Messenger Service, possiblty because of a problem with service or your internet connection. Please make sure you are connected to the internet."

Here is the part I do not understand. If I PING a site from this PC I am online. I can surf the NET & sites come up. This computer is running Windows ME. Both PCs use MSN version 6.0

I have talked to SMC support, the Cable company obviously will NOT help because of the router.

I am STUMPED so any help is muchly appreciated.

did you set each computer up such as
isp --> router --computers 1/2

check the ip address to make sure you did not set up the computers up with the same IP addresses, use winipcfg on the run command to check the ipaddresses, also make sure to set up the DNS correctly for each system.
did you make sure the IP and subnet mask are correct
such as
computer one 10.1.2.2/255.255.255.0
computer two 10.1.2.3/255.255.255.0
and the gateway.
are you using NAT on the router?
unless your using DHCP on the router for each computer.

your not trying to use the same MSN account at the same time on each computer are you?
