Default Should I be concerned about this trojan?

Apparently I have a trojan or something that keeps changing my Internet home page to http://www.google.com. I would change the home page to something else and it keeps changing it back. So I tried the AVG Fee Edition and it identifies the culprit as Generic2.QJB. Apparently AVG does not remove it as the home page keeps getting changed. Brand name AV software such as McAfee and Symantec are no better.

Is there a way to remove this trojan?

im pretty sure if the avg antivirus detects it then the avg anti spyware will remove it. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/20/lng/us/tpl/v5 its free and worth a try,you could also go the usual route that many follow and use spybot search and destroy and adaware.all of which are free and very useful tools,of course prevention is better than a cure.

I have tried the AVG Anti Spyware. It says it removed some 81 objects when I did the fast system scan. But the home page still continues to be changed. Maybe later I will do the full system scan.

I personally have no problem clicking on the link. But anyway I have a copy with the listing as HijackThis.pdf file.

Some update on the effects of the trojan that I have experienced:

When I do use the Google search engine, the results are displayed okay. However when I click on the results I end up going to an eBay search page with the same search phrase. Go figure. Apparently this trojan only affect Internet Explorer. So I am using another browser for the time being and there seems to be no adverse effect.

IMHO there's nothing nasty in your log. I recommend to check your system with the two free malware scanners; Ad-Aware & Spybot.

http://www.download.com/Spybot-Searc...ml?tag=lst-0-1

Good luck!

if theres nothing nasty showing in the log then perhaps its just hijackthis currently doesnt detect it,if something is changing your homepage then you definitely have a problem that needs sorting out, try spybot and adaware, also cwshredder is excellent as well and you will find it on the page which locustfurnace posted for hijackthis
