I have all versions of Designer up to ver. 10, but for simplicity, I love my ver. 3.1 Over the years, I have successfully migrated this program into successive versions of Windows, most recently being Windows 98/2. However I am stymied with a very simple task in installing it to XP (Media Ver.). I get the message File Error - “Cannot find MGXVBM.DLL”. I have the file and have installed it to every conceivable directory, but am still unable to start Designer 3.1. I would install from the diskettes, but a virus got into one many years ago, so I have no choice but to migrate from HD to HD. Any suggestions? 54XPAG Rockburn, Qué |

Hi there ^^
Could you please be a bit more precise about what you mean by "every conceivable directory" ? Does that mean you tried both the application's directory, Windows', Windows/System, Windows/System32 , etc. ? Tried making a shortcut with compatibility options enabled ? If for some reason we really can't get it to work under XP itself, I'd advise to install it on an older OS under which it works, which itself would be in a virtual machine (there are several freeware ones, such as MS Virtual PC, Sun VirtualBox etc.).

I am trying to install this older version of designer on my Windows XP computer and I'm getting an error message related to win.ini. Then the installation goes to "not responding" status. Can anyone help?
