http://blogs.zdnet.com/Spyware/?p=31 without digging round the www. too much on such a well worn subject just thought it worth a mention of some of the pitfalls of using filesharing apps many, infact most of them carry spyware adware and junk stuff in the installation so people out there just beware and do a little research before installing this type of program, this is as well as the legal side of people getting sued for thousand of dollars for downloading copyrighted files ie music films etc etc etc,is it worth it the choice is yours, read through past posts on kazaa and other filesharing apps for more detailed advice on the legal side of things, locustfurnace provided very detailed info on the legal aspects in many threads

People use P2P networks to trade copyrighted files? That's ridiculous! (in his best Scott McClellan voice)

Hmm..

Links to spyware are legal??..
Links to seriall codes are illegal??..

Links to viruses are legal or??
Very fit line between nukes and spyware

Can I post links for software,
that can help users build viruses??
Where in the list is there a link for just spyware code? Other than the fact that some of the popular P2P clients contain spyware, which by the way is not illegal. You're misunderstanding what the user has posted. Spyware is not all damaging, just the populace does not enjoy using programs which contain Ads, or data mining, which is legal. Most cookies track your movements, and too many cookies are spyware too. So under your questioning, then any site which has a cookie tracking you should be illegal?

AOL software uses ads, "spyware" in most of their software. But is AOL software illegal??
Most freeware is ad supported, this helps pay the bills for the free side to the software. But the software is not illegal.

Spyware for the most part is more annoyance and not damaging. Virus, trojans, and in general all malware does damage, there is a difference.

Nukes completely disable someones computer. By flooding your TCP/IP stack. While spyware just sends some collected information back to the developers. usually this is well stated in the EULA when you install the software. example being Gozilla, which for years used ads and tracking software in its free download manager.
The problem is most people do not read the EULA before they install software.
G-mail, also "spys" on its users, so under your view, g-mail is illegal?

The users above is making it known that thos p2p clients contain tracking software, otherwise defined as spyware. This is to let users decide if they wish to install and use that software, or chose from another client.

Posting links to Virii will be removed for the safety of all users.
