Default ICQ 5.1 doesn't work

Hello.

I've been trying to get ICQ 5.1 to work but with no success, it's forcing me to upgrade to version 6, which I'm not really fond of. Anyway, is there any way to make version 5.1 work, or is it a like fighting a losing battle?

Thanks in advance.

It is likely the server side software will not permit people to use older, less secure versions anymore. This is a common occurrence with alot of web based programs. Mostly due to the older versions lack of supporting the companies new ad system. But that is speculation.

If you need the older version and cant connect, and do not like the newer version, then maybe you could try PIDGIN
