This has nothing to do with Sun, Microsoft or Java. JavaScript and Java are similar in some ways but fundamentally different in others. The JavaScript language resembles Java but does not have Java's static typing and strong type checking.

JavaScript is Netscape's cross-platform, object-based scripting language for client and server applications. There are two types of JavaScript:


Navigator JavaScript, also called client-side JavaScript
