Therese,

The link I need is for Panicware's Popup stopper 2.92. Thanks anyhow, FreeSurf uses too much remaining
resources on my win98SE machine.

lightsup55,

I'll take the link for the install file. I don't have ICQ. Email or post here. Thanks.

Brandon,

With Freesurfer my system loses 10 - 12 % of available resources w/win98SE.
I was finally able to find it w/google...

I have an older version of Panicware Pop-up stopper (2.8)

It's better than the new version...

In the new version, you can't turn off the welcome (nag?) screen when it starts up.
Also, the old version had an option, "Enable Agressive pop-up control" which you could turn off or on.... The new version doesn't have that option, and will just kill ANY window you try to open.

I think the idea is, to give their free version less features (cripple it form what it used to do), and a welcome (nag) screen that can't be disabled to encourage (nag) you into getting one of their non-free pop-up stoppers....

Well, I think that Oldversion.com should have some of the old versions of Panicware pop-up stopper.... I could donate my version if nobody can find it, but I bet there are some later versions that were still good, which I don't have.

Well.. I went ahead and emailed my version to them... (442k)

If anyone else wants this, you should encourage them to make it available for download.

Another thing they changed in the new version: instead of the tray icon being a little window with a red X on it (or a light grey X when you disable it) they changed it to a pointing white hand.... that makes sense.... ?
