Just a quick listing for search engines. sometimes using more than 1 engines can get results other missed.

recommended search engine that is alittle different is http://www.kartoo.com/ requires Flash, but makes searching alittle more interesting. and makes good use of flash, other than just animating web sites.

This is quite usefull: www.search.com, it searches all the search engines, so you don't have tp search thhem individually.

    Hello,

Due a recovery of my system-hard disk drive, I have lost all my favorites.
I had a favorite for a search engine which looked for (.exe) files, but not restricted to old versions.
I wasn't able to find it by googling.

As far as I can remember the search engine had something to do with file-mirrors or mirror-files (something like that).
One other thing I can remember was that of the variable paramerter.
So if you were looking for the WinAmp 2.91 German, and the name of the .exe file was wamp291ge.exe and you put in wamp29*, you got all wamp29 exe files. (wamp2.91, wamp2.92... wamp2.95; also the Dutch, English, Italian, German....versions)

    Can anyone help??

    Regards,
    Holloroedullioe

You are looking for a FTP search engine.
The reason your request was merged into this one was do to similar nature. If someone knows what your looking for, they can post into this thread, thus keeping similar related requests easy to find.
Look for altavista search engine, it can do ftp searches. I find alot of the files i do find on this site via google. Its not hard to find an exe file on it either.
But I also use the altavista ftp search engine as well.
