having win95, and needing to message and not in a position to get another comp. we tried messenger. Setup95 downloaded time after time, kept failing and telling me to get help (/?), then syntax error, then quickly flashed over to " update now". I know I'm old, but it's rude.
Familiar story this judging by the posts.
But on trying easymessage, I'm getting W32-32DLL not found. Can anyone tell me what this is please and where I start looking for it.
    Thanks

what made you go with MSN messenger in the first place? I am amazed with everyone on posting about the troubles of MSN, there is alternatives, such as ICQ. If you got so many problems with a service, drop it. I have never used MSN, do not have an account on MSN, and never will. I have been using ICQ for many years, probably as far back as 1997 and never experienced as many problems as the MSN community users base. why continue using it if you cant even get it to work?
I have posted in the list of chat apps, a java based MSN messenger you might want to use inplace of the non-working app.
On the missing dll, what exactly is the error message? I tried looking up what you posted but did not get a hit on W32-32DLL, is that the exact error, or are you just using the short-hand form?

For any errors you experience on Easy Message., you best bet is to contact the authors of the software, in this case, Easy Message.
I am including the developers own help forum link, so you can post your problems on their board. They are the developers of the app, so your more likely to get precise answers, and or bug fixes from them.

Thankyou for your reply. We had no preference for messenger, it was just that my wife's friend said to get it so they could chat. Who could argue with that at the time?
And our opening page is explorere, so it seemed to be a simple formality.
Anyway, having now given up on mess., I tried easymessage.
The exact error message is ;-

    Error starting programme

! A required .DLL file, WS2_32DLL. was not found.

(sorry 'bout my eyesight, it is WS2, not W32)

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
    Thanks, Derek

    Windows Socket 2.0 32-Bit DLL = WS2_32.dll
you can download the missing dll file here
    http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-file...es.shtml?ws2_32

can also get the file at Microsofts website
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloa...ts2/default.asp

you will need to unzip the file and read the FAQ's on the site for installation, but it will most likely be copied or moved to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder.

I see, well the ICQ has been a good messenger for me for many years. but if you already have friends using MSN, and want to chat with them, i can see why you would stick with it, be sure to check out my listing of chat clients, you might find some interesting chat clients there as well, such as even trying out the NetMeeting from Microsoft, which might already be installed on your system, with it, you can do video chatting with your friends, as well as voice and text chat.
Its a good thing if you have family far away and wish to actually see them while talking with them.
