hey i have a friend who goes to a college where there is a block on kazaa. if my friend got kazaa lite and got a socks 5 proxy and set klite to use it under the "firewall" tab would this most likely circumvent the firewall of the college? thanks!

Make sure the college handbook/policy does not forbid the useage of P2p apps, if they are blocked, then there is a good chance their exists a policy. Which you will be found to be using the app, even if you use a workaround. As the packets can be dumped, and viewed as to the contents. Plus the bandwidth useage will increase for their assigned IP. So its not going to go unnoticed.
You would have to be running through an external socks proxy, not one on your own computer, a proxy within the network.

Also, a similar question to what your asking has already been asked on the forum, please search the forum before repeating the same questions. If the post of smilar nature varys a little than your question, its still OK to add to that thread.
