must say locustfurnace i always used winzip myself but after trying this program i must say im impressed and winzip is out of it, anyone who needs a zip program must give this a try its absolutely brilliant and i wouldnt use anything else now, as far as the younger generation go, my family say its simpler and faster than winzip.

7zip
I like it aswell its midsized resonably easy to use and fast will be even better when it supports spanning/splitting for archives (across multiple disks) which is fairly essential for me,but I must be a bit oldversion using floppies with all the flash memory available, but as no one else wants them theyr free:)
=======================

zippers

I've been thinking the forum needs a zip selection so here are a few of my picks, really you could try something different every day of the year these are all free and all have something to offer.

for something bigger with plenty of formats and tools dragndrop try IZArc even comes with fruit if you want!

JustZIPit small, fast, smart, hassle-free zero-interface means no learning. basic
http://free-backup-software.net/

QuickZip +QuickZip Lite +(100K_Zipper <<<<minimal)
http://www.quickzip.org/quickzip/information.php full featured +
can create a tiny setup program (22kb)

BigSpeed Zipper a midsized zipper I used to have was stable for me, some unusual features for a zipper, kinda basic like a dumb horse but was fond of it
http://www.bigspeed.net/index.php?page=bszipper
extract/view the contents of zip packages online before downloading

dcZip
http://www.davidcampaign.net/dczip.html
Resizable dialogs- Runs on any computer which has a Java 1.3 runtime- maximum number of files that can be compressed at one time 50,000 files

Freebyte ZIP
http://www.freebyte.com/freeware/#fbzip
small- noinstall- featured

Optimal Archive/register/annoying adsplash screen
makes zip files look and act like windows folders. Drag & drop files from and to your zipped file and launch applications from inside of the zipped file.

UltimateZip/adware
http://www.ultimatezip.com/
bloated- features all of them !

Keygen is illegal.. and most keygens are viruses, its very easy to register your programme using a keygen, but its not worth it.

PS: If you do use a keygen to register a product, can the company find out? and no, im not getting any ideas! lol :P

This is why it is best to post that information, with the fix if you have it, in the exisiting thread that had the broken link this keeps the forum tidy and helps the next person that experiences your problems.

Links will not last forever but the thread remains
and the list of similar threads continues to grow making it more difficult to maintain or find what you want so by following this advice everyone can contribute to oldversion.com

This and similar advice is repeated throughout the forum it is not harsh or hard or aimed at anyone in particular but benefits all.
