What was the last version of QuickTime without the skinned interface? I remember Quicktime slowing down much when Apple went from standard GUI elements to their own system.

QT4 or 3?

QuickTime 4.x (Windows and Macintosh versions) was the one that started the new skin look.

So to answer your question, QuickTime 3.x

So, have you found any other older versions of quicktime?

The only version number that seems to be missing is 1.0, if there is even a version 1.0 that was released, which would have been many many years ago, pre 1995. So it is possible it does not exist??

I'll take you up on that.

Seems to be that a QuickTime 1.0 did exist:
Google Search for: "QuickTime 1.0"

P.S. You might also be interested in Archive.org's, the Internet Archive Wayback Machine's listing for http://www.apple.com/quicktime/.

QuickTime 1.0 for Mac OS the first version of the player was released on December 2 1991. In November 1994 Apple released QuickTime 2.0 for Microsoft Windows the first-ever port of QuickTime to that operating system [/quote]

QuickTime History Timeline

Still no referrences for a Quicktime for a Windows 1.0, just MAC 1.0. Seems that the first version for Windows was 2.0

I have read a readme file and it looks like there is no quicktime 1.6 for windows. I got both 1.1 and 1.1.1. Now I need the 2.0 and then I got all the quicktime software that they made.

Here are the sites:

Quicktime 1.1 zipped

http://fresh.t-systems-sfr.com/pc/src/misc.../qtw11.zip.html

then click on qtw11.zip

Quicktime 1.1 exe

ftp://ftp.euv-frankfurt-o.de/pub/Windows3...ndows/qtw11.exe

Quicktime 1.11 exe

http://www.stsci.edu/ftp/ExInEd/electronic...ions/qtw111.exe

Quicktime 1.11 zip
QuickTime for Windows, release 1.1.1 12/08/93

http://www.univ-st-etienne.fr/pub/utile/di...in16/qtw111.zip

I would recommend getting both zip and exe if some files are missing.
