Everytime i format my hardrive, i have to go back to microsoft site to re-install the patches and updates. The thing the really pisses me off is that i cant save these patches on my hardrive and it's bloody waste of time! There's got to be a better way around this.
Can someone point me in the right direction on permantely saving these updates and patches.

    Thanks.

after installing the patches, look in the c:\windows\temp folder & the c:\windows\msdownld.tmp & c:\windows\update folder
you should find the downloaded updates. just copy them somewhere and burn em to a CD so you have them for later useage.

Downlaod them from Microsofts Windows 98 Page for Corporate Users. These pages are handy as you can download an update one at a time.

come on bulbasaur if you will want to get your post count up do it by adding good well thought out help and not one word answers, it makes no sense having a post count of 90 if its only achieved by one word answers that do not help anyone.by adding the word thanks to this thread is ridiculous especially as you hadnt added anything else to the thread previously. and please dont take this as an opportunity to up your count by replying

Don't you love it when people add to their post count by doing nothing other than complaining about how other people are neelessly adding to their post count?

Freddy, if you're brave, you can use the Unnofficial Win98se service pack so that you don't have to download all the updates when you reinstall:

That's exactlay was i was looking for! Hopefully it's legit and doesn't contain any trojans etc... Downloaded it from some other webpage because the mirrors where a bit slow and the webmaster reckons over 1500 people have installed it,with no complaint so far.

Yeah, I think many freeware sites are also hosting that file, so it's probably ok... Although I, like you, thought it would be really easy for that guy to slip a trojan in there....

If you try it, let us know how well it works with a fresh installation.
