I've now had TWO burnt CD's that won't play on the computer OR my stereo system. The only players they work on are my DVD player and my Discman-like player.

I've been having trouble with the CD-RW drive on this computer for the last couple of months. As it stands, I can only record CD's at 1x...anything faster than that, and the underride buffer crashes. It's a really old computer, admittedly, a Gateway from 1999. And the CD-RW is a 2x speed (I think). I've used both Nero 7 and CD Creator 2, and even used wav files on the last disc. Same problem. And it looks like the sessions were finalised both times, because it said "CD created successfully".

Does this mean the drive is about to go up?

This just means there were no errors (underruns), it does not mean the sesssions were closed or that the disk was finalized.

You say the disks only work in the DVD player? Are you making the CD's as AUDIO CD's? or data cd's?
What file format are you using, if your selecting one, best to stick with the joliet format.

Check in this thread for some other possible solution's to your problems. ie the speed.
