    Hi,

I think im posting in the wrong place but i dunno what to do.
I just got a computer with a dvd/burner in it and i went to watch a dvd today and it opened up windows media player 9 and it said

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

I didnt know i needed one of those? What are they? Do they cost money

I did a google search for 'DVD Decoders' and you have to pay for them

Is there any free ones out there you could possibly list for me.. if you can please thank you so much!

I do not have any problems playing DVD movies in my system, and the video card I am using is very old, an older (1995) Matrox Millenium with just 8Megs WRAM, and DVD's playback fine.
You could be missing an mpeg decoder library for playing back DVD's.
Might want to try a version of WinDVD, which should included any necessary mpeg decoding engines.

On my laptop i am running windows 2000, taking the place of ME; but after instaling 2000 i lost my DVD decoder. Now when i play a dvd it notifies me that i dont have a decoder. Where can i get one? My old decoder was DVDexpress, but for ME. It shows no display for 2000.

To everyone that's needs ALL and I mean ALL the codecs to do WHATEVER they want... Do a google search for the KLite Codec Pack.... You'll find it... That will solve everyone on this pages problems....
