When you start up the computer, there is a long bios code, which should indicate alittle info about the MOBO. Unplug the keyboard ( to halt on keyboard error) and write down that very long number, which is usually at the very bottom of the screen, and enter it into google or at http://www.motherboards.org/search.html. This should help out alot.

If you shutdown the computer, unplug the keyboard, turn the computer back on, it should start up, and halt with a keyboard error. The long code should be right at the bottom of the screen.

    If you shutdown the computer
    Done

    unplug the keyboard
    Yep

turn the computer back on, it should start up
    Yep

and halt with a keyboard error
Nope Didnt halt at all. it went to the windows XP home loading screen then went to the accounts login, and i couldnt type my password coz the keyboard was unplugged.

    Is there any other way..

The computer BIOS (Basic Input/ Output System) must have been configured to halt on "All Errors Except Keyboard", you could change the BIOS error handling. To make it stop on ALL ERRORS.
This requires making changes to the BIOS. If you have never done so. Its best not to.
You might need to hold the ESC key when booting so that it disables the splash screen, but some systems do not acknowledge this, such as some Compaqs
I found a site which will cover this process in greater detail, check out this site from Intel

    http://support.intel.com/support/motherboa...b/CS-010687.htm

If this does not help. then try this hit results from google, which should give you plenty of information.
