    Hi Guys,

What the difference between this cable: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...orldID=&doy=6m4

    and this one:

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...rldID=&doy=6m4#

Apart from the second one has 2 extra 25 pin plugs? I want to use it to connect 2 pcs via their 9 pin (blue) serial ports and use the connection for transferring files and playing 2 player PC Games (Like Age of Empires 2). Any suggestions?

Basicly they are the same. Both are transfer cables. The major difference is the 25 pin one is designed for compatability between newer to older 25 pin serial ports (Not to be confused with a 25 pin printer port) or older to older or newer to newer. Oh and about £8.

I'd suggest spending the money on equipping both machines with Ethernet cards, and using a cross-over ethernet cable. Then you can get the 100mbps speed of ethernet, versus the extremely slow speed of the serial, RS-232 Port, which is 115.2 KBPS

Yes, that looks perfect for hooking up 2 PC's.
That kit, is basically just 2 Ethernet cards, and a cross-over Ethernet cable.

These you could buy separately also from any store. But since this is a kit, which includes it all, it may or may not be a savings, but what it will do is make sure your getting the correct parts. So that makes it simple.
