    I have Yahoo Messenger V5 installed, is Yahoo Messenger Beta an upgrade or under test by Yahoo?

    Beta software is always "under test" software. It usually has bugs, and is often unstable.

    Thankyou for your reply, does this mean then, that I should not upgrade/download to their latest version?
    Will they release another version after testing?

    Yes, a beta is a testers release. Those who like to participate and send in bug reports often run beta's. Those bug reports then usually get fixed before the new point releases. So shortly, a new yahoo messenger should appear.
