Default bypassing windows XP limitations? =(

well, I just got a new pc, put windows xp on it.

it's pretty alright except for one thing. it wont let me take a screenshot of anything, it replaces anything but the icons with a flat color.

Is there any way I can hack it or something to get past this?

Have you tried using the Print Screen key on your keyboard to grab a screenshot?
Press the Print Screen then open MS Paint, then select Paste.

well, of course, that is the regular way of creating a screenshot isnt it?

is it just MY XP that does that?....I thought it would be a common complaint about XP

For those that know, Yes. For those that don't, then they use a screen capture program.
Have you tried a shareware screen capture program?
It could be that the bit depth your using is to high for the paint program.
