I was forced to reinstall win xp. So i had to reinstall aol but i dindt have setup so i downloaded it from aol.com. This version puts all this crap on your system and is using up my resources for dumb crap. I have my own security set up with out needing their, most likely buggy, security.

ANYWAYS - I cant find any old aol disk of like 7 or 8.0. Does anyone have the setup file on their computer that they could send to me via AIM or maybe bit torrent? Maybe one of you has one of those free AOL install CDs lying around, that you can copy and mail to me. It would only cost you a .33 cent stamp

-Side Note. I hardly ever used aol and when i did i never let it upgrade itself. So called "aol security" features will probably invite more crap on my cpu.

    AOL 9

    AOL 8

    AOL 7

    AOL 6

If you want to order the CD Version of AOL 8, I think the only thing you or your client can do, is to sign on to AOL and go to "Live Help" put that into your Keyword Box and then you have to ask one of the Techs to order it for you, I tried to find a web page where you can order it, but they told me the only way to to ask for it or you could also call, but I have found the on line "Live Help" at least a little more responsive.

    www.aol.com then click the "
Dowload “AOL" link at the bottmem of the page

INSTALL THE AOL VERSION OF YOUR CHOICE FROM AN AOL CD
THE CD will contain at least four versions of AOL

Put the disk in you CD or DVD Drive and Hold the “Shift” Key down.
This should open the disc’s directory in Windows Explorer. If the
Autostart program loads despite these efforts click “Cancel” and
“yes” when prompted to exit the install program. Either open
Windows Explorer or My Computer and select AOL CD-Rom which
Will contain different AOL versions, if you do not see them, they are
    Hidden.

In Win 98SE, Choose View—Folder Options-View and check
“Show all files under Hidden Files, Click OK.

IN Win 2000, Me and XP, select Tools-Folders-Folder Options
View, check “Show hidden files and folders” under “Hidden Files” and click OK.

Then to install a version of AOL, find its folder and double click on the setup
Program incon in that folder. THE CD will contain at least four versions of AOL..

Default AOL 9.0 *non* Security Edition

    Program Name: AOL
    Website: http://www.aol.com
    http://discover.aol.com/aol_downloads.adp
Current version: AOL 9.0 Security Edition
Desired versions: AOL 9.0 *NON* Security Edition
Description: Email and dialup tool for non-experts

The security edition loads on a lot of junk, I'm sorry I went to it from the non-security edition.

    Default AOL 9 Optimized

That is what I was looking for. Tried your link, I can't download this, it's a special aol:// link, only aol will install it. So, I ordered the free CD. Hope I'm not spammed to hell now....
