You cant get any old versions of WMP on XP
You can run older versions of WMP on all versions of Windows. Currently, i have 6.4 installed with 9.
Just keep your older version in another folder, example, C:\Program Files\Windows Med Pla 64, if you want to make sure they don't overlap each other.
Supposively, XP comes with 6.4. You have to run "mplayer2" (no quotes) in the Start - Run box. Worked on my Windows 98 SE machine just fine.
I would downgrade to Windows Media Player 7 if Windows Media Player 9 is giving you problens.
Yup, WMP 6.4 does come with XP, just go to C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player
and create a shortcut of the 'mplayer2.exe' to whereever you want it
