    Default media player help

I am trying to downgrade from Windows Media Player 10 to 9. Every time i try to remove player 10 from my pc, it is still there when I try to install player 9. Any help would be awesome.

    Welcome to the site

You have to clean your registry before Downgrading to 9 (I agree .. 9 is the best)

1st make sure all folders you can find for wmp10 are gone..

Then Grab a copy of REGSEEKER and let it clean your keys... (Best reg cleaner out there)

Then when you try to install 9 it should work

Please keep us updated on your progress

If you have installed Windows Media Player 10, you can roll back to the version of the Player that was on your computer before installation by doing the following:

    1.
In Category View of Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.

    2.
Click Remove a program, and then do one of the following:

    • If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 2, at the top of the list, select the Show updates check box, in the Windows Updates section, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.

    • If you are running Windows XP Service Pack 1 or earlier, click Windows Media Player 10, and then click Change/Remove.

as given on the microsoft site

That would not really do what you asked but, you may also give a try to Media Player Classic. Good freeware replacement

The Dude, Cleaning the regs did not work. I even searched for windows media player files and that did not work either. I can't seem to delete the files, they reappear after deleted. My pc came with Media player 10. Thanks.

according to the microsoft website windows media player is a feature of the operating system and cannot be removed entirely that is most probably why you are having problems with regseeker not doing as the dude thought it may.

I think if you worked @ it long enough you might be able to clear the reg completly of all WMP 10 keys.......
