Thanks to Tom for the website.

Since I don't expect to find download-able files on web sites that I search on at archive.org, but I do try and make an attempt. Here's the archive.

I'll try and see if find an old version for you.

Somehow I stumbled across this page talking about a virus in one of there installers for about a three week period. The virus is trojan known as W32.DlDer.Trojan. They have developed a program which will remove the trojan from your computer, you can download it here.

Don't worry about the virus, it "poses little threat to users" as I quote text from grokster.com below:
On the Symantec website, this is classed as a category 1 threat, which is the lowest level of threats possible and, per their website, means it "poses little threat to users."

A little thing about the extra downloads within Grokster's installer (quoted from download.com):
Editor's Note: Grokster includes additional applications that are bundled within the software's installer file, some of which may be provided by parties other than the developer. These applications may deliver advertisements, collect information, overlay content or graphics on the Web site you are viewing, or modify your system settings. Pay close attention to the options presented to you during the installation process. As of 9/3/02, the version of Grokster available for download requires that you also install Cydoor and GAIN components. During installation, you will also be presented with more than 10 optional installation items and/or services from Symantec, File Freedom, New.net, eBates, GreenCarrot, and others.
If you have any of them, you can remove them by using Lavasoft's Ad-aware and/or Spybot (TechTV's Call For Help article / The Screen Savers article).

You can read my next post that will talk about Gator/GAIN and the alternatives to their software.

GAIN: short for Gator Advertising Information Network
The ads that have - Gain after them are from the Gator Corporation. Beware, the software that they have are adware/spyware.

You might have installed any of the following software on your computer:

Gator (Gator eWallet) - software that stores your personal information along with your user names and passwords for form filling/logins on webpages.
alternative: RoboForm, it does the same thing that Gator does and more. Best of all, it has NO ADS, NO SPYWARE, and it's FREE

Precision Time - automatically syncs your computer clock to the U.S. Atomic Clock
alternative: use Atomic Clock Sync from WorldTimeServer.com. Atomic Clock Sync does the same thing, however, it also has NO ADS, NO SPYWARE, and it's FREE too

Date Manager - allows you to quickly view a 2 month calendar and set reminders
    alternative: none at this moment

BEFORE YOU REMOVE GATOR, INSTALL ROBOFORM. RoboForm can convert your Gator data to be used in RoboForm.

With that said, visit TechTV.com for more info about Gator and how to remove it. Be sure to check out their article on RoboForm.
I got this by watching TechTV's Call For Help show.

Adware: Software that displays ads on your computer.

Spyware: Software that tracks everything you do, including what websites you visit. In some cases like this, the spyware reports a website you visit to give you an ad for someone else's product or service. Example: If you use PayPal (send money to anyone with an email address), GAIN reports back and sends you an ad for a similar service such as c2it.
