IE 5.5 is no longer available from Microsoft. I located a webpage with every conceivable version here ... http://helpdesk.uvic.ca/how-to/support/win...95/msiexpl.html ... but OldVersion might try finding something smaller than their >75mb downloads.

That's correct, only the most recent version can be downloaded at Microsoft's website.

But your best bet on finding any version of Internet Explorer is at http://browsers.evolt.org/ they have Internet Explorer from version 1.0 to 6.0

Also save old isp cds you get in mail. Many of them have IE on them and lot easier than dialup download of software as large as IE. Just choose explore instead of open when looking at cd. Thus you will see list of files instead of getting the noisy greeting wanting you to install the isp software. You will find an IE file, open that and there will be an IEinstall . Click that and it will just install IE, not the isp software. For example I believeAOL6.0 had IE5.1, AOL7.0 had IE5.5, AOL8.0 has IE6.0. The only thing is if you use one of these isp versions of IE, it most likely will be branded, makes no difference in function yet annoys many people. Instructions all over internet how to get rid of this. Usually simple modification of a registry key and you can make it call itself anything you want. Alternatively you can copy just the IE files to a file on your hardrive and delete the one labelled "branding" or something simular. Remove cd and run IEinstaller from these files now on your hardrive. Then you get clean version of IE from getgo.
