I use Trillian, and I have never had a problem. It is the greatest messaging program out there.

Response to Louis C.---I hope you like Trillain alot cause if you ever uninstall it you"ll find its "wonderful" feature of the merged contact lists will remain. I mean REMAIN. I had to wipe my harddrive {for other reasons} and was sick of the merged contacts in my aim buddy lists-this is when you have different screen names with different buddy lists and put them together with Trillian. With a formatted harddrive I went and downloaded a fresh aim messenger and signed into it, only to find that the lists are still merged. Never have figured out how it change aols program--must be and upper registry thing. Beats me--just thought I'd pass the warning along... Ringo

LMAO @ John....

www.trillian.cc is the best messenger out there....even supports MSN and Yahoo webcam....
not only that but the Pro version and its plugins are great....
I have tried nearly every program out there, and while there are some good ones, trillian is by far the best.....using little system resources...
but buddy lists ARE stored on each messenger's servers....NOT your computer
even ICQ now...
and you can always delete the whole merged contacts group <_<
