Hello,

Sorry for not being very active much that will all change once summer break escalates. To control any more serials, and warez being posted in the forums guest posting has been disabled and two new moderators for the forums have been chosen. If you believe you'd make a good moderator please post why. Theresa is also a nomination, and I would gladly appoint her as moderator if she accepts the position.

Post any comments/suggestions.

Hi everyone.

You might know me as the InvisionFree Community Admin. If not, that's ok.

I've been around this site for a while and would like to say that some things need to change:

Warez is illegal in the United States and I'm here to to let you all know that we will lock all threads about it.

Posting Serial numbers is also not allowed. We will edit these posts. If needed, we will also lock them.

Porn will not be tolerated. Any threads containg links to websites or pictures of it will be locked. The posts will also be edited.

More I haven't thought of yet, but you know what I mean.

Have a fun time here at OldVersion.com.

I think I would make a good moderator.

1) I am always here, mostly browsing, but that could change
2) I know a lot about computers and programs and I could help out in that aspect.
3) I am against Warez and I have already made the Retail Software post in the Requests forum (which a few people seem to be ignoring, but that's beside the point)

I would really like to become a moderator; ever since I found OldVersion.com, I have tried to visit as often as possible.

Hi,

This is peppycomputer And I would like to say thankyou. I will devote as much time as I am able to. I travel alot and work about 70 hours a week. This site has become a passion of mine and I have really enjoyed the comments and messages.(for the most part). What has happened in the last day, came about, because we have people, who abuse the system. The system ,was allowing it self to be abused ,so that everyone could have a chance to give their opinion.
The moves that have been made, will help keep the forums in balance better. If you are a guest and are reading this take a couple of minutes and sign up. Then you can express your self or help someone within the limits of moral and legal means.
Too many people asked for this site to be something it is not! A way to get any software, by any means! It would not take long and the site would be in trouble for several of the things ,I saw happening.
I would like to add in closing that I am older than a lot of you are, But the intelligence level and knowledge that is displayed by many of you, is wonderful. I cut my teeth on DOS and thought that q-basic and DOS Shell was the greatest. True excitment was, windows 3.1. It gave DOS a covering that almost anyone could make a computer usable.

You all, keep pounding the keyboard, because I have learned alot from all of you. Then every once in awhile I will try to teach you something!!!

P.S. Keep this last thought in mind: The windows XP you deal with now is the DOS Shell From my time. : Learn about Dos and you will understand windows alot better. B)

The new moderators are an excellent choice, especially someone who is familiar with DOS.
A simple question. Will we be able to improve the posting of programmes onto the site?

Hello members and guests.

I am Therese and I have been a member of this forum since I read about OldVersion.com in a Swedish computer magazine in November last year.

In one of my earlier lives I did a lot of scientific research work, both manual and with help of the computers of that time. I still have the interest of research and I am one of us here who are trying to find old program files. This is sometimes rather difficult since the old versions have a tendency to disappear very quickly. A link that is open today may be down tomorrow. In this matter we need a lot of help from all of you.

Like there still are antique cars running on the roads there are old (in a future antique?) computers running here and there and they need these old programs.
People should not be forced to buy new computers every second or third year only because of the reason that the software requires the newer computers.
Besides, we can often use our computers more effectively with an older version of a program. Let’s face it; how often do you use all the so called improvements and extras of a program? Of course there are some of us who need them and want them, but most people seldom use these extras which take a lot of the resources of the computer. The choice should be ours and not the developer’s.

There are now and then interactions between the different programs which may cause problems for us and other programs don’t function as we want. There are many questions around computers and computer programs. Come and discuss your problems and come and help others with their problems. This site is for all of us who are interested in computers, from beginners to experienced users. There are no silly questions here (except concerning requests for illegal information). The problem you have might be a big problem for many of us and perhaps someone has the solution.

There are also interactions between us members. We can’t expect that we all have the same opinion about all the topics that are discussed here. In that case there would not be any discussion, but we can be polite to each other and treat each other with the same respect as we expect from others.

Guests, join us and share your experiences and ideas with us.
Let us have a good time together.

That will be the next issue when I get off from school mid June <_<

Hand tight, after then we will do a lot of catching up with software, and try to make daily posts of programs with a round of volunteers to help us around the site, of course new programming would be required which we can't work on till school's out. Sorry bout that.
