    Default fastest codec in windows 98se?

    Smplayer seems to be the fastist imo with a little tweeking is there a better faster alternative for divx and xvid videos? Vlc is nice I'm trying to find the last version that had win32 support (windows 98)

    The last version of VLC that supports Win9x was 0.8.6.i as far as I'm aware.

    You'd want Media Player Classic.
    Faster than SMPlayer.

    Not sure what the last version of CCCP for 98 is, but I'd suggest using it. I was using 98 all the way up to 2007 and there were no video files I couldn't play. Look for "combined community codec pack". It has a copy of MPC in it.
