    Default Media Player Version 10

Recently I clicked on a message from Microsoft to upgrade various programs. After that, when I played my guitar tutorial DVD I had lost the choice of repeating a small section so that I could practice along with it to get it right; and the bookmarking function had disappeared as well, so that I could no longer jump to a particular spot immediately. The little control panel that previously appeared low on the screen has vanished! I think Windows Media Player Version 10 was replaced by version 11.
My computer Operating System is Windows XP. I have contacted Microsoft and cannot get a sensible answer. Can anyone help me to find a program which allows me to get these functions? Or how to go back to the former media player version (if that is the reason) Thanks, Brian - Sydney Australia
