Thats correct. though it depends on your setup if it would cause fragmentations, if your running your temps and IE temps and swap file on a seperate partition, then it should not fragment the root part.
Since your setting this straight, hows about some help setting up my IPFW?

who said anything about tracking?
hey, I'm trying to find the Windows 98 Defragmenter, I've looked all over the place and all I can find is references to using the newer ones because they're faster. I've got XP and have the defragmenter that came with it, I'm just trying to find the old 98 defrag.exe
looked like this

if anyones got it or knows of a site online that they can give me a link to, it would be appreciated.
windows 98 defrag program was a microsoft product which are retail software and i believe it would be illegal to find it for download unless of course it was from microsoft itself,or reinstalling it from your windows cd. you may be better to try an alternative such as diskeeper http://www.diskeeper.com/defrag.asp
the poster wanted a defrag program ? not something that removes or adds windows components for which you would still need the installation filesOriginally posted by LRI41@Jul 16 2005, 07:55 AM

hey i was wonder if I could some how get the win98 defragmenter on my xp
thank you
Firstly, you would not want to run it on XP, since it can not handle the NTFS (filesystem) and second, it is slow.
The defrag in XP is actually not made by Microsoft, but licensed from Diskeeper - which makes one of the best MS Windows disk defragmenters around
I am merging this is an existing thread.
